Cont: Musk, SpaceX and future of Tesla II

I'm aware of Mark Roper and his background.

And he shows his working. At the least the algorithm for a couple of the scenarios should be updated. If you can't see ahead of you, then automatically slow down. Just as a competent driver is supposed to drive so that their stopping distance is less than their visual range.
So just say that?

I gave a summary of you didn't want to watch the video. But this sort of analysis, where he films himself driving his car towards the obstacles is ideal for a video format.

TLDW.
Tested at 40mph against a car with LiDAR assistance.

On emergency assist, the Tesla didn't stop in time for a dummy standing in the track. It did on full autopilot. All other tests were done with the more sensitive autopilot not just standard assist.

It did spot a dummy going into the road after a football.

It didn't slow down for fog and hit the dummy

It didn't slow down for really heavy water obscuring the dummy

It did stop in time against very bright glare.

It failed to spot a wall painted like the road.

The Lidar stopped in time for all.

Fox News is now talking about people getting the death penalty for attacking Teslas

No they aren't.

They are talking about the death penalty for people who blow up Tesla cars with people inside them. Now, I am against the death penalty in any circumstances but even I have to concede that if you blow up a Swasticar with people in it and they die, you need to face the full consequences of the law.

Indeed.

The thing about Nazis: A Warning from History is not that it is just about the holocaust, nor is anyone saying the US is currently like 1939's Germany.

However, what it does is slowly and carefully examines and exposes exactly how a fairly normal western democracy descended within a few years, with the acceptance and agreement of its population, into the horrors of fascism.

The lesson being, if it happened then and there, it could happen now, if the lessons are not learned, and the warnings are not heeded.

The US is on that path right now, and the lessons have been forgotten, and the warnings are being ignored.

Is it a coincidence that this is all happening at about the time WWII is passing out of living memory?

Don't Teslas blow up on their own, already? I don't follow automotive news closely but I'd gotten the impression those things burst into flames as if they were Samsung phones sitting in the California countryside.

Elon spouting more stock pumping bollocks says Tesla plans to build 5,000 Optimus robots in 2025, with production possibly scaling up to 50,000 units by the end of next year.

Also Tesla are to produce a supersonic airliner.

I hope next he announces he plans to build Atlantis, and moves immediately to the bottom of the ocean. I've always suspected I would find Musk more tolerable if he were at the bottom of the ocean being crushed by the pressure in a lightless abyss.

And will give every one a pony when they purchase… sorry when they put down a deposit for something that will be 5 years late and not do 50% of what was claimed.

It’s not supersonic, it’s… subsonic. Also, not an airliner; it’s a car.

Comments arising from Elon Musk stating his (still alive) trans child is dead have been moved to their own thread. Whilst of course his current high profile political actions may be legitimate discussion about what is or will be happening with his companies those comments were not about his companies but him only as a person.

He's going to give employees the chance to buy the robots before they go on general release.

So will that be taken in to consideration at their next job review?

Crafty idea - he'll have plenty of his employees gaining experience with telefactoring , training themselves at their own expense in their own time. To be fair probably will help the employees making the cars; instead of being fired as the car lines shutdown for lack of sales they can move over to telefactoring the puppets he sells.

It certainly puts the furor over Hunter Biden in new light. We live in a world where the President and his advisors are unabashedly using their offices and government resources to promote their own personal business interests. We have an unelected oligarch who is using the color of office to contract with his own companies on a sole-source, unreviewed basis to provide essential government services. And somehow this is not wanton corruption? Somehow this is patriotic? Somehow this is making the country great again?
Hatch Act??
