Isn’t that an old picture? Or is that a different, younger, human shield?
Also, what’s up with his hand? Is it in plaster?

The picture has been popping up since at least 2022. I've no idea what's going on with his hand (maybe his heart went out to us too close to a door frame?).Isn’t that an old picture? Or is that a different, younger, human shield?

I've only seen the film version...Wasn't there a Stephen King book that predicted a Drumpf who got his comeuppance when he used a toddler as a human shield? Apparently King rated Americans' standards for authoritarians a little too highly .
Starship seemed promising at first if you didn’t ask too many questions. But, after back-to-back failures and having never come close to completing its design brief ... as well as a litany of painful design flaws ... many are starting to question the viability ... with the most recent launch failure as context, it becomes evident that Starship was doomed from the get-go and that SpaceX might never be able to rectify this mess.
Interesting. I will retweet to my millions of followers. This Substack post from a couple of days back suggests Starship isn't going anywhere.

Starship Was Doomed From The Beginning

I'm no rocket scientist, so I can only take it at face value. I await Test 9 with interest though.
Some replacement. Who certified that crew rating? No, there's still at least a Soyuz crew-rated capsule docked.
It wasn't a replacement. It's been there at least since Suni and Butch arrived. I don't know how much earlier it got there. Some replacement. Who certified that crew rating?

Or who certified it, or whether we can trust the certification, or whether it's a responsible decision, to put living humans in it to get them out of orbit safely.I don't know how much earlier it got there.
It was the only way to get up and down from there before Dragon Crew arrived on the scene.Follow the course of the conversation, please.

How many Soyuz capsules have failed to reenter safely? How many have reentered with people aboard?Follow the course of the conversation, please.

IIRC, there has been a vehicle available the whole time. It can't be used for obvious reasons. That's why they had to wait for the next vehicle to arrive even though if there was an emergency they could have used it immediately.A friend told me that the astronauts used their return vehicle today, despite not having a replacement?
Soyuz? 140 flights, two resulted in killing the crew, both in the very early days. Also the unmanned Progress craft is derived from Soyuz and has had 182 flights with three losses. Some replacement. Who certified that crew rating?
And I'm saying a Soyuz capsule is a pretty disheartening plan B for getting out of orbit. It was the only way to get up and down from there before Dragon Crew arrived on the scene.
