Face, meet leopard. Leopard, meet face.

That's a mistake! I wasn't talking about "waiting for them the realize the truth." What I said was that it is "a good starting point for making them see ..."
Yes, because if there's one things Trump supporters respond well to, it's being lectured by liberals armed with facts who think they know better.

I would also love to help people in the Biden-and-Harris cult to understand that they're in a cult and then get out of there, but it appears to be even more insurmountable for Democrats to realize that they're in a similar cult of personality as their MAGA compatriots because they are so busy pointing fingers at the guys in the other cult, which is one of the sure signs that you're ... in a cult.

Biden has a personality?

Trump voters in swing state 'questioning new administration' as President fails key 'test'

Donald Trump won North Carolina in the 2024 election in part due to his promises to help those affected by a local disaster, but "frustration remains" among locals, according to a report.

Trump, along with Vice President J.D. Vance and political appointee and richest man in the world Elon Musk, has criticized former President Joe Biden's response to the devastating Hurricane Helene.

Many voters thought Trump would do better, but the results are sparse, according to the Washington Post's reporting.

In an article from Sunday entitled "Trump vowed to help the N.C. mountains rebuild after Helene. Frustration remains," the Post highlighted bridges in the state that are "littered with crushed cars, houses knocked off their foundations and thousands of downed trees," and accompanied by signs that read, “Trump Make this Bridge Great Again!”

"Five months after Hurricane Helene, about 300 privately owned bridges in this county have yet to be fixed. While Americans typically rely on a mix of state and federal aid in the wake of a disaster, the recovery for many here has become akin to a personal test of their relationship with President Donald Trump," according to the new report.

The story quotes numerous locals who have been affected by the disaster, including Gary Hicks, who was critical of Biden's response and voted for Trump.

"Hicks and four other families have been trying to figure out how to come up with the estimated $200,000 it will cost to replace their bridge. Even a small rain shower can make the river rise, stranding their cars," the report states. "With Biden, Hicks said, 'there was no hope' of getting things done. He voted for Trump, but he’s still waiting."

Hicks reportedly said, "I have found myself questioning this new administration. What are they going to do?... I know he’s only been in office for a month. But let’s start seeing some results.”

Sure, he promised to help, but it's only been a few weeks so far and he has any number of competing priorities. All that golf isn't going to play itself.

It's as if some people have had the last eight years erased from their minds. The cries of "give him a chance!" and "see, now they're seeing that Dump's policies are detrimental, that's a great starting point, they'll see the light soon!" is just tiring at this point. We're had his disastrous policies for four years. A million Americans died. They still worship him like a god because reality is what they want it to be. How many of those remorseful fascists (or fascism enables) will go through a grief period and then resume their blind devotion to Daddy Drumpf? Probably most of them.

They're in a cult. They won't leave it maybe ever, and no, you can't just help them leave. Cult deprogramming can be incredibly difficult even when it's just one person. In this case it's 70 million. Going "well help them leave the cult" just shows an ignorance of what we're up against.
Its like warning someone not to jam a fork into a live electrical socket, they get shocked and then later announce that they are going to do it again because they insist last time wasn't as bad as you keep reminding them it was. Now having shocked themselves again they are complaining how much it hurts. At that point you have to accept that however bad they feel now they are just going to give it another go just a soon as the pain fades and there is no point giving them another safety lecture.

The funniest part of the article for me was when they started a sentence with "Hicks and four other families have...", and for a second I was like "wait, that's no way for a news outlet to refer to the people of North Carolina!", before realizing it was some dude's name.

Yes, next time they should use "Yokels" instead. :)

Ok. Their feelings can and should be hurt, and in spades. They should feel the full force of the consequences of their decisions, no argument. But for those that have a change of heart, and put their children's benefit above their own ◊◊◊◊◊◊ up sense of being patriots or whatever they think they were, welcome them to Team Pro-America, sez me. People can change. Sometimes they just gotta take one on the chin themselves.

This is fair. However, what we’re seeing a lot of from these people is either “I wanted other people to be harmed, not me” or “I’ve been harmed but do not regret my vote”. Those people can eat ◊◊◊◊ forever.

I think I understand the confusion:

You are working under the same misapprehension as the Biden and Harris Team that Republicans or even Trumpers will ever vote for a Democrat in big numbers - it won't happen. At best, they will stay home. So if you want to tell them how stupid they were/are, be my guest, as it won't matter.

But if you are hoping to pick up voters for the Dems, you better come up with a strategy beyond "vote as the DNC says or whatever happens will be your fault - again."
What the dems need to do is find policies to bring lost voters back to them. And being all we'll implement republican policies but 0.5% less bad is not going to do that.
