I'm still trying to work out the hierarchy of the Kingdom of Dump, or X Oblast, or the Muskdom of Elonia. I'd place putin on top, obviously, and President Elonia above King Drumpf (with his toddler as his enforcer when the King steps out of line), but does Musk take orders from putin? And where does Vance fit into all this?
 
I just watched the full exchange on PBS News Hour. I've never been so ashamed of my country. Zelensky should have called Trump out for what he is: a senile, demented, crazy old fool, a coward, a psychopath, a loser, a liar, etc. etc. etc., finishing with, via Shakespeare:

A knave, a rascal, an eater of broken meats; a base, proud, shallow, beggarly, three-suited, hundred-pound, filthy, worsted-stocking knave; a lily-livered, action-taking knave; a whoreson, glass-gazing, super-serviceable finical rogue; one-trunk-inheriting slave; one that wouldst be a bawd in way of good service; and art nothing but the composition of a knave, beggar, coward, pander, and the son and heir of a mongrel bitch; one whom I will beat into clamorous whining if thou deniest the least syllable of thy addition.

I am goind to have to insist that the Sci fi Fantas series that has the most relevelance to what is going on today is Babylon FIve.
 
It's ironic that one of them has four counties occupied by russia and the other sits all the way across the Atlantic in a nuclear superpower, and yet it's Dump who is a slave to putin.

I don;'t deny that, but there are other factors that are NOT economic in nature. I reject the whole Economics is the only factor school.
For one thing, I think the rate on which society is changing has upset alot of people, and they fell for a whole "We can make the Good Old Days come back" line of BS. And someone once noted in response to one widely held compalint, it is NEVER the country you grew up in.
Yes, I do reject the point of view that economics are th eonly thing that really matters.
 
Europe seesm to be rallying around Zelinsky and promising support. Now let's see if they put their money where their mouth is. I have my doubts.

We try to, but it's hard. The decisions the American people make now have too much influence over everyone else in the World to make it easy.

Spot on. There's also a family resemblance to the sort of professional wrestling that Trump seems so enamored of, with clearly delineated bad guys vs good guys plotlines; and, in a lot of ways, professional wrestling is just another "reality" TV show, maybe even a sort of historical forerunner. All of that wouldn't be so much of a such- it's maybe always been an element of politics for people to want nothing more of it than to have teams to cheer on- if it weren't for the way Musk/Trump and their enablers in politics also treat such serious subjects with the same gravitas as their MAGA fans when they should know better.
