Trump's Second Term

.
Reporter: Migrants who were in Guantanamo Bay say they were shackled and placed in cages and say they were not treated as human beings. Any response to those conditions?

Leavitt: It’s a promise the President campaigned on
They're not hiding who they are anymore.

Re: Design of the stage at a CPAC conference...

Even if you take them at their word that they didn't recognize it as a Nazi symbol THIS TIME, that sort of "accident" seems to be happening with an alarming frequency with Trump and the republican side of things.

How many 'oops, didn't mean to look like the 4th reich' should there be before people get nervous?
Fair enough, didn't know there were repeat offenses.
To be honest, though, what threw me was the idea of a sincere apology. That's so out-of-character for the fascists that I was sure it was actually some oblivious contractor who messed up because they genuinely did not know about that (kinda obscure?) Nazi-appropriated rune.

Then again, both things might be true. The original could've been a mess-up, which the Neo-Neo-Nazis made sure to adopt as a fixture since it successfully triggered the libs.

Someone said in a different thread that the designers apologized profusely and didn't know that was a Nazi symbol.
Things like that can happen accidentally so I can accept that was the case.

And to be fair, it’s not like it is the final solution…

Yeah. If people didn't believe Trump was going to be horrifically evil, they just weren't paying attention.

I'd say that the "sincere apology" could easily have been part of the larger firehose of BS, frankly. It was possible the first time, albeit quite implausible. Repeating that? Not a reasonable possibility anymore. Either way, CPAC's been pretty much a love song to the anti-Democracy far right for a while now, not limited to Nazis. It was rather hard to take their words as even remotely caring about truth, of course, when they went on and on and on about Democrats trying to kill YOUR cows. That they held CPAC in Hungary and praised Orban like they did was also a pretty clear indication about how much they actually support Democracy.

They’re cutting Medicaid

REPORTER: Can you say unequivocally that down the line, there won't be cuts to Medicaid programs?

MIKE JOHNSON: Medicaid is hugely problematic because it has a lot of fraud, waste, and abuse.

Unlike your tenure.

The fact it happens repeatedly to one party is kind of telling....
To be fair (again), both things can be true at the same time. You could have an overtly fascist/Nazi party that deliberately steers the US towards a Fourth Reich, while at the same time also using a Nazi-appropriated rune by accident. But I guess we're drifting off topic.

At a House hearing today Chairman James Comer (R-KY) threatened to have Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) forcibly removed for negative comments about Trump and Musk.

“So if we wanna look at waste, fraud, and abuse — which I’m down to do — why is there complete silence on the other side of the aisle about looking at the complete grifter that is the President of the United States,” Frost said, “and the richest man on the Earth, which is looking into things like social security and different things like that? Why don’t we investigate the real corruption?”
After a brief period of multiple committee members talking over one another, Comer restored order and asked Frost to “revise” his prior remarks. Comer also said Frost “improperly” identified Trump.
In response, Frost doubled down by calling the two men “President Musk” and “grifter-in-chief Trump.”

Frost somewhat relented, calling Trump “President of the United States Donald Trump, who’s engaged in grifting of the American people.”
Frost was again interrupted as Comer said there was “pending motion for disparaging the president.” The Florida Democrat, however, continued to accuse Trump of grifting.
“I can say that Trump is grifting!” Frost said. “What I will withdraw is calling him ‘grifter-in-chief.’ That is what I will withdraw.”

Comer then ordered that the words be “stricken from the transcript” and barred Frost from speaking for the rest of the hearing.
When Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) was called on to speak, she attempted to come to Frost’s defense before her voice was immediately snuffed out by more shouting.
“Insulting people’s appearance, as well as trying to fight them, isn’t a problem,” Crockett said, “but we’re so sad that our little leader–”
Comer then yelled, “Skip her!”
“Go to the next one!” he added.

With his microphone cut off, Frost continued to speak as he gathered his belongings and started to leave the hearing.
“Mister ranking member, I am going to have the sergeant at arms remove him if he doesn’t refrain!” Comer said.

Do not criticize the monarchs.

I am more and more feeling the need to buy that Ar 15........
I thnk that Frost probalby went over the line of normal legislative discourse, but COmer really ovreacted, should have just said let the comments be stricken from the record and let it go at that.
But he went from "tone ii down" to shut up and that is dangerous.-
