Well, the last paragraph is actually true.

Could the new pro-Russian current be understood from a racist point of view? White christian Russia is not such an illogical ally if you look at it this way. Many conservatives have no allegiance towards a multicultural America, only towards a white-christian one. And they are afraid of the fact that whites are set to become a minority in the USA, and what this future may look like. It seems that they would prefer a white etno-dictatorship than a democracy at this point.
I see the superficial resemblance, but I'm not interested in the "white people are evil racists" explanation for everything.

I didn´t say white people, I was referring to republicans who support Russia. With the advent of MAGA and the new nazi dogwhistles there it little doubt that racists would be aligned with that party, if they had to choose one...

All hail Trump! Your leader and inspiration

transport Secretary Duffy: "This whole movement is potentially gonna make people go, 'I'm gonna come to work earlier. I'm gonna stay later. I'm gonna look at what Donald Trump wants me to accomplish because he won the election, and I'm gonna fight and work to make sure I help him accomplish that ... I work for POTUS."

Spoken like someone who has never been a leader, and from the perspective of a cult operative. No, brutality does not engender love for the Dear Leader. No, arbitrary decimation and micromanagement does not instill a greater work ethic. It sends the message that you can be dismissed no matter how good you are at your job and how necessary that job is for the mission of government.

Maybe thousands upon thousands of previously hard working civil servants suddenly flooding the jobs market will scare everyone in the private sector into concentrating on trying to look busy and keeping their heads down as far as possible. That might make productivity better. Or, on reflection, worse.

One of the few things I’ve heard about management theory is that negative management works just as well as positive management. Productivity is raised when the manager is nice and cares about the workers, but productivity is also raised when the manager is a bully. Apparently, what works is to pay the workers attention, no matter what kind of attention.

...but productivity is also raised when the manager is a bully.
Yes, you can raise productivity temporarily by cracking the whip. But when the claim is that brutality will endear the workforce to management, that's just fantasy. Your temporary productivity spike is driven by fear, which also elevates the possibility that your top performers will leave for less brutal pastures. There is also a morale hit.

But I agree that positive management is also short-lived. A workforce will normalize to better conditions or higher pay and then often slip back into complacent patterns.

Oh, look, they have mystical, algorithmagical Elon-generated proof of all the fraudies that Elon claims to have found, which no one else in decades has seen and which justifies Elon's indiscriminate purges. Again, where are the economists? Where are the forensic accountants? Where are the computer scientists who don't work for Elon? Why didn't Elon's black-box algorithm figure out that he shouldn't fire the people who guard our nuclear stockpile? Everything is just based on slack-jawedly believing that Elon Musk is a galaxy-brained super genius, when the evidence seems to be little more sophisticated than 1,$s/Reuters/d.

It's questionable whether data lies, because data can be manipulated to support a lot of things. That's why we require the manipulations to be publicly inspectable. But Elon certainly lies.

I suspect that Musk's motivation with the "data" is to increase the training data for Grok, trying to get ahead of the likes of OpenAI's ChatGPT who have pretty much mined all the data they can on the internet.

I realized just now what this administration reminds me of:

Amy's Baking Company

Musk is Samy, Trump is Amy. Lower energy than either, of course, but the same mixture of ego, insanity, criminality, and incompetence. Oh, and charm.

Fraud = anything that Elon or Donald doesn't like.
