Trump's Second Term

Yeah, there's a number of conservatives I generally respect, who have inexplicably taken a pro-Moscow position. Domestically, they're great. Internationally, I just don't get it.
Could the new pro-Russian current be understood from a racist point of view? White christian Russia is not such an illogical ally if you look at it this way. Many conservatives have no allegiance towards a multicultural America, only towards a white-christian one. And they are afraid of the fact that whites are set to become a minority in the USA, and what this future may look like. It seems that they would prefer a white etno-dictatorship than a democracy at this point.

As the saying goes, he is the exception that proves the rule.
to be incredibly pedantic - not what that expression means.

What the example of Schindler proves is that resistance against Fascism is always possible - if you are incredibly privileged, in a position of authority and don't embarrass the powers that be publicly. In other words: if you are not a threat to the system, you can get away with a lot.
Which just highlights that a Schindler-like resistance would never be enough to stop Fascism.

Donald has appointed right-wing commentator Dan Bongino as deputy director of the FBI.

Trump that Bongino is "a man of incredible love and passion for our Country"

Talking about his career as a prolific conservative political commentator, Bongino said "My life is all about owning the libs now."

Donald won't be happy with the new German Chancellor.
He's going to push for European 'independence' from the USA

I am communicating closely with a lot of prime ministers, and heads of EU states and for me it is an absolute priority to strengthen Europe as quickly as possible, so that we achieve independence from the US, step by step...

I never thought that I would ever need to say something like that, on television, but after the latest statements made by Donald Trump last week, it is clear, that the Americans — at any case these Americans, this administration — mostly don't care about the fate of Europe one way or another.

This comes closest to what I was thinking. For most people, how much money they have or can get is a realistic measure of what they can afford to buy; for folks like Musk/Trump, it's a measure of their idealized self-worth, and, by comparison, how much (or, more accurately, how little) people who don't have as much are worth. It's a definition, a quality, not a quantity at all.

I don't know enough US conservatives to judge, but a big part of the problem with UK Conservatives is they conflate financial value with personal and social value. If someone is paid a lot of money or accumulated a lot of wealth they are 'obviously' important, valuable & productive members of society, someone who isn't paid much & hasn't accumulated wealth 'obviously' isn't making a valuable contribution so what little they are paid is too much & should be reduced or their job cut. They certainly shouldn't be listened to because if they had any insight or wisdom they'd be rich. It doesn't matter if it's Inherited wealth or a social vital job so we get millionaire journalists, TV presenters and MPs complaining about over paid railway workers, teachers, nurses and Junior Doctors. This reasoning is also self fulfilling of course, the logic leads to high paid jobs being paid even better and low paid jobs held at low pay, as can be seen in the growing inequality in the UK (and the US suggesting similar thinking at work) and the creation of an hourglass economy. And the dividing line between valuable & worthless keeps rising.

I know that after coups and revolutions it's often a problem to find qualified people to replace the old guard that was purged, but I imagine most revolutionaries and coup-makers are at least trying.

Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel. Dan has a Masters Degree in Psychology from C.U.N.Y., and an MBA from Penn State. He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York's Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve. Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!

Don't want to be a spoilsport, but that is dated 24-May last year, and we can probably assume it was not referring to his new government role.

As Deputy of the FBI, he's gonna be completely swamped with a vast assortment of memos, meetings, calls, meetings, problems, fights, meetings about meetings, meetings to schedule other meetings, more calls, video conferences, and packs of roving TV cameras following his every move and reporting on them unfavourably.

The poor wee lamb... ;)

I think that needs a FTFY.

You don't get it.

The MAGAs want what's in his statement.

They don't want professionalism, they want the libs thrown in jail.

It's going to happen and there's nothing the lib traitors can do about it.

Buckle up you commie.

He failed to mention that Bongino worked for three years for President Obama. So the chances are high Bongino is a double agent for The Woke!!!1!!

You could say the same about Dump, and he still spent, and spends, most of his days munching hamberders, watching TV, and playing golf. When he's not being horrible on Xitter and his own little social media site, of course.

That's SOP for Donny. Bongino thinks he will spend all his time at the FBI pointing fingers and shouting. Won't happen. Big, busy organisations like the FBI need a LOT of management across multiple levels. Kash will sit in Hoover's chair, but Bongino will have to sit in a real office and do real office work for long hours all week. For once, he's going to be a VERY busy little worker bee. And that's just to find The Woke and get rid of it. Not to mention Musk bouncing through the place knocking things over like a rocket-propelled beachball.

Dan, be careful what you ask for - you might actually get it.
