I think Elon was surprised by the fact that the Treasury sends out checks even though they believe them to be fraudulent or criminal. This is because it is not the job of the Treasury to approve sending out checks, just to send them out. Anything else would be illegal.

Other government departments tell the Treasury what checks to send out and to whom. Treasury sends out the checks to whoever they are told to. If Treasury is told to send out a check they believe is fraudulent or tied to criminal activity, Treasury sends out the check and reports the fraud or criminal activity to the appropriate government department.

This is Elon trying to achieve efficiency by creating a whole new level of bureaucracy for payments to be processed. Say it with me kids:

In a country where millions of citizens can and do have their votes stolen from them, where large swathes of both parties propose the same non-solutions to national problems, blaming non-voters is a fool's game.

it’s impossible for them though. they’d have to utilize the same power trump is abusing to undo half of it, thus opening themselves up to accusations of hypocrisy and abuse of power. and the dems are much more concerned about appearing to do the right thing than actually doing it.

Evidence? There's never been any proof of widespread vote stealing, many small incidents but no proof of anything on a national or statewide level. I'd like to see your evidence; I don't appreciate being called a fool without some proof.

On the subject of vote stealing, if voter suppression and the like counts... here's a small start.

TRUMP LOST. Vote Suppression Won.

To poke at a bit of that that's of relevance -
— 4,776,706 voters were wrongly purged from voter rolls according to US Elections Assistance Commission data.
— By August of 2024, for the first time since 1946, self-proclaimed “vigilante” voter-fraud hunters challenged the rights of 317,886 voters. The NAACP of Georgia estimates that by Election Day, the challenges exceeded 200,000 in Georgia alone.
— No fewer than 2,121,000 mail-in ballots were disqualified for minor clerical errors (e.g. postage due).
— At least 585,000 ballots cast in-precinct were also disqualified.
— 1,216,000 “provisional” ballots were rejected, not counted.
— 3.24 million new registrations were rejected or not entered on the rolls in time to vote.


If the purges, challenges and ballot rejections were random, it wouldn’t matter. It’s anything but random. For example, an audit by the State of Washington found that a Black voter was 400% more likely than a white voter to have their mail-in ballot rejected. Rejection of Black in-person votes, according to a US Civil Rights Commission study in Florida, ran 14.3% or one in seven ballots cast.


There are also the uncountable effects of the explosive growth of voter intimidation tactics including the bomb threats that closed 31 polling stations in Atlanta on Election Day.

In response, the Republican Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, signed SB 202 which slashed the number of drop boxes by 75% only in Black-majority counties and locked them away at night. These moves slashed mail-in and drop box balloting, used by the majority of Democrats in 2020, by nearly 90% in the 2024 race.

It is just a shame, though. That things common to all of us have no meaning to people fiddling their phones all day. I mad some observations about the lack of knwoledge we have. With this too much info coming to us. Chris Hayes also has a book on this.

I'm sure that The Party is cooking up more laws to make voting harder to do, unless you are a wealthy, white person.

I still insist it is one half that number...if the GOP is obliterated in the midterms impeachment will quickly follow...
