Trump's Second Term

Yet more "stable genius" remarks by Trump on the air crash in DC:

In addition, MAGA Morons are spreading the rumor on social media that a trans Army National Guard woman was piloting the Blackhawk helicopter.

View attachment 58798
So... If some named person was piloting the UH-60 as the MAGAs claim, and all the people on board the helo died... How is she responding to their nonsense at all? Seance??

Coup via Gish Gallop. Just run through many individually "not a coup" actions too fast for anyone to keep up with any analysis of the legality of them.

And next thing you know the Inspector Generals have been fired, the FBI purged, illegal servers and hard drives installed at Office of Personnel Management (by Elon Musk's people who have literally moved into the building), US agencies that were created by congress are eliminated via Executive Order and vast number of federal workers are being fired without due process.

I am pretty sure I'll be one of them. Maybe a week or two. I don't think they'll try to drop that (metaphorical) bomb until after the acceptance date for the forking deferred resignation passes.

And Americans won't even see it as a coup, because we see movies and think that a coup means tanks in the streets and guns on the rooftops. They need none of that if hostile law enforcement and legal resistance is defanged, and the rest of the law enforcement and military goes along with it. Especially with both houses of Congress, TV news and major social media platforms all kissing the ring.

Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin just announced the dismissal of roughly 30 federal prosecutors who worked on Capitol riot cases in the D.C. office over the past four years.

Notifications went out at about 5 p.m. on Friday.

And it seems FBI staff who investigated J6 have been escorted out of their offices.
This is all going to end in thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) of law suits filed against the Trump admin and him personally for illegal termination. Even if all the cases are dismissed, it will take years of time and several mountains of money to get that far. And if any succeed, and it seems likely they will, it will mean even bigger mountains of federal payouts for compensation.

There will just be new laws passed that all lawsuits have to be vetted by an agency loyal to the president before they can be brought.

No doubt there will be only one or two people in that agency, not thousands that would be needed. So flood them with tens of thousands of individual suits. And file them everywhere across the country. So if they have to evaluate every suit, it will still take years. And if they dismiss them without review, file an appeal through them. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The Trump team's method is flooding the zone with crap. Flood their zone with a Hoover Dam's worth of crap.

Oh you sweet summer child, nobody's going to be evaluating anything. Those in charge now are not listening to complaints, and they certainly aren't open to having their power checked and balanced. Why on earth do you think they'd help you to stop them?

Oh, I would totally expect that they will burn or otherwise dismiss any inbound communications. But the optics of that, should...say...overseas news feeds get to hear of and see the submissions and publish them first, will be horrendous. Somebody hates being made a fool of, no matter how big a fool they are. So ketchup will be thrown. :)

Optics, schmoptics. The unelected crony of the president, in charge of a non-government entity, has already seized control of OPM, OMB, and now the Treasury. Actual federal employees have been overridden, literally kicked out of the building. Musk's employees --not US government employees-- just Musk's own people are literally camping in the formerly-secured offices (brought in sofa beds so they can work around the clock). They've locked out actual civil service from their own systems, and taken control of them. They're not even legally authorized to be in the building, much less in control of them! And yet they are. Because their boss is the president's crony.

The president is above the law, he can create new laws, he can overturn existing laws. And he's letting his favorites do whatever they want, in his name. I doubt Congress, even if it wanted to, could stop it now.

The tariffs trump is promising will begin tomorrow is nothing less than an act of economic war.

One of our label suppliers sent an email to all their customers today. They are printing millions of stickers with an upside down american flag and the words "Don't buy American" for people to stick on american made products. They are offering 10 rolls for free to any of their customers who want them. I said "Hell yeah we'll take some!"

And... looks like Musk's going for control of the GSA. With that control, he's apparently already putting government buildings up for auction, with promises of many more to come.

Yeah, this looks like what could be a textbook example of idiots trying to run the government like a business, ripping off the public for a quick buck, and the public likely having to pay lots more after to fix the problems that are likely to arise.

Oh, and Musk also seems to be working to gain access to the federal government's computers and to install what rather sound like likely rather insecure tools onto them.

Will Tiberius stop Sejanus this time? I hate having to hope for action from that one, but it's probably the best bet for success.

Too bad it won't involve his old trick with the harp-string. (If you aren't familiar with that little tidbit of history don't look it up, it's very unpleasant and you'd be happier not knowing. You're going to look it up, aren't you? I knew it.)

Polluters win. EPA mothballed. (they will check the mothballs for safety: only naphthalene allowed, no dichlorobenzene)

EPA workers receive emails warning their employment could be terminated

Did you read the article? The email is targeted at people who have been at their job for less than one year and are considered to be on probationary status:

CNN said:
More than 1,100 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency received notice this week that they were deemed to be on probationary status and warning they could be fired immediately, according to an email obtained by CNN.

Probationary employees receiving the email have been working at the agency for less than a year. The emails began to go out late on Wednesday afternoon, according to an EPA union official.

The same message will be sent to other agency workforces, a White House official said. Across the US government, the latest data shows there are more than 220,000 employees on probation.

“As a probationary/trial period employee, the agency has the right to immediately terminate you pursuant to 5 CFR § 315.804,” the EPA email to probationary employees reads. “The process for probationary removal is that you receive a notice of termination, and your employment is ended immediately.”

This is not the same as "mothballing" the EPA.

What the Trump administration is doing overall is bad, but we don't need misinformation coming from our side of the debate.

Reference for the highlighted? I had heard employees were locked out of their systems, which is bad, but nothing about additional servers installed. It's uncertain yet if Musk and his people have access.

Also, I need better evidence than a random social media account that Musk's people have moved into the building.

US agencies that were created by congress are eliminated via Executive Order and vast number of federal workers are being fired without due process.

Which agencies, exactly?

Just 24 hours after the worst U.S. aviation disaster in decades, employees at the Federal Aviation Administration received a mass email encouraging them to search for more productive jobs outside of government.

That’s according to a new report in The New York Times, which added that the email sent by the Office of Personnel Management just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday urged FAA employees – including air traffic controllers – to act on an offer to resign sent across federal agencies earlier in the week.

“We encourage you to find a job in the private sector as soon as you would like to do so,” according to the email, which the Times reviewed. “The way to greater American prosperity is encouraging people to move from lower productivity jobs in the public sector to higher productivity jobs in the private sector.”

The email also suggested that federal employees could seek out a second job or even travel to a “dream destination” of their choice while still remaining on the government payroll for months before their permanent departure, the Times reported.

Can't swear this is true but.....

Which agencies, exactly?
US Agency for International Development: https://bsky.app/profile/erinsnider.bsky.social/post/3lh3bybvsq22t
This "random social media person" is a U.S. Senator.

That particular agency has already had a number of staff purged for unspecified conduct issues. A senior civil servant found that the charges of misconduct were invalid and reinstated them. So he was purged too: https://bsky.app/profile/johnphudson.bsky.social/post/3lgyzvdmmhj2j
(WAPO Reporter covering that).

The server thing is still based on an anonymous complaint: https://bsky.app/profile/hiteckee.bsky.social/post/3lgsqs4rz322e. The complaint seems to be serious enough to have been referred to in the lawsuit on the matter (bottom of page 5: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.276820/gov.uscourts.dcd.276820.1.0.pdf)
It is certain that Musk's people have access. A number of Trump's lower graded political appointees were, as of two weeks ago, still on Musk's staff. Including Amanda Scales, who is now referred to by federal employees as "Professor Umbridge". https://www.wired.com/story/elon-mu...nel-management-opm-neuralink-x-boring-stalin/
