Trump's Second Term

A lot of GOP congress critters are going to be between a rock and a hard place, Trump policies will have a big negative impact on their constiuents...and and they will scream about it. But if they oppose the policies, the will go aganst Trump. A hard needle to thread......

A little more detail on NIH
I've seen reporting that indicates the Trump administration is trying to remove all attention to race in grant funding, including as a study variable. Race disparities are a common feature of health and medical research. If the Trump administration demands that all federally funded research may not consider race as a variable, then any studies produced from such studies would be effectively unpublishable.

I am still tryi8ng to figure out what the hell the Trump demand that California free the water means.

Trump seems intent on a constanc state of chaos.
I repeat, he will wear ut his welcome with a
The only way he will wear out his welcome is if the economy goes tits up, food production and supply chain are destroyed, and the MAGAs can't feed themselves and their families. I don't think it will get that far, but I do think the probability of it is non-zero.

Remember, "It's the economy, stupid!"

I get a sick feeling Trump has it in for science, period .

Oh good grief...
Numerous high resolution models use radar data. And the reason buildings don't show up is because the clutter supression accounts for them. Clutter suppression can account for wind farms too but the problem is that they cover thousands of acres, so if you suppress that area you run the risk of missing actual precipitation! You are arguing with the wrong person, I literally was a "forecaster adjusting for mountain peaks..." with NOAA for 14 years...
As for birds, I just mentioned them in passing and not part of my main gripe with farms (which is that they destroy pristine wild areas when sited inappropriately) I certainly don't dispute that cats kill more. But the knee jerk reaction you see from some members here "It's a myth!" is just as bad as Maggat nonsense. For ***** sake, I have killed birds driving down the road and one died flying right into our kitchen window last year (after that we put up decals to make it more visible) so denying that large metal blades spinning quickly through a couple hundred feet of prime flying space is killing birds is about as stupid as saying that offshore oil rigs are great for the environment. This is completely off topic so I am not going to share the studies that have documented the deaths--it is IRRELEVANT because my argument has EXPRESSLY stated that DESPITE the (not insignificant) number of deaths, it is not a reason to prefer fossil fuels to wind energy! PERIOD...
I guess that my knowledge is somewhat out-dated, given that I've been out of the weather field for (more than) a few years.

That being said, one research meteorologist (who does not work for NOAA) told me that the model that their lab has created has an algorithm for filtering out wind turbine contamination from radial velocity data (they didn't give me a good explanation of why they don't simply drop data from the lower elevation angles for a few miles around the radar). A retired meteorologist told me that when they were still working their system had no problem filtering out wind turbine contamination, in fact it was able to filter out contamination from non-stationary sources like bird flocks.

The price, and availability of fresh produce is already being disrupted even as I write this. Now, of course, we already know Trump has little interest in fresh produce, with his steady diet of clown provided processed food products, but it is possible some of his followers do consume a salad or a vegetable or two, and they will notice something isn't the same as it was just a few weeks ago soon enough.

Why do you think it's just fresh produce? Meat, dairy, processed foods, everything will be involved. Tyson Chicken Nuggets don't make themselves. Plus there are illegals who transport products, illegals who sell products, illegals who build houses, illegals who do roofing, siding and windows, the list goes on and on.

This will come home to roost.

Lets' face it, immigrants do the jobs Americans do not want to do themselves.
The whole thing is a desperate attempt to keep White Americans in a majorty...and it will fail miserably.

Trump has pulled the security of former government officials he doesn't like them. And he's done it at the same time as released a load of violent, criminals who are loyal to him.

Not very likely. But authors must remove every mention of or thanking note relating to Dr Fauci.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio halted spending Friday on most existing foreign aid grants for 90 days. The order, which shocked State Department officials, appears to apply to funding for military assistance to Ukraine.

One current State Department official, plus two former Biden administration officials, said the pause appears to stop aid to key allies such as Ukraine, Jordan and Taiwan. They, and others, were granted anonymity to discuss sensitive internal government documents.

Trump in California: "You don't need FEMA. You need a good state government. And when you have a problem in Los Angeles, you have your own, essentially, FEMA. You fix it yourself."

Trump: "We shouldn't be in a position where you have tumbleweed that's dry as a bone. Even tumbleweed can be nice & green & rich & & it's not gonna burn. You don't even have to remove it. It's not gonna burn. But it's just dry. So I hope you can all get together & say I'm so happy with the water that's gonna be flowing down."

"The trees are loaded with water. They suck that water out of the ground ... it's called management of the floor."

"CA must adopt common sense policies to prevent fires. 8 years ago I was talking to ppl from Austria, ppl from Finland, people that live in forests. One of the great leaders of Austria said 'we don't have forest fires & we have trees that are actually more flammable'...they rake their forest"

"I'm signing an executive order to open up the pumps and valves in the north. We want to get that water pouring down here as quickly as possible ... you're talking about unlimited water coming up from the Pacific Northwest, even coming from parts of Canada."
