Trump just raised the price of drugs for recipients of Medicare and Medicaid.
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”― George Orwell, 1984How perfectly normal non-Nazis wave to a crowd, according to sir-drinks-a-lot.
No. But I don't think even this SCOTUS would uphold making XO's superior to the Constitution which would make Trump a de facto dictator in no need of Congress. I don't think even Congress would stand for that. It would remove any power they have. And I have no doubt the military wouldn't stand for it, either.Does that surprise you?
Well said!!Sure, JD: 10% (he's more like Goebbels) Musk: 40% (evil, but not much of a leader) Trump: 60% (he will of course lie about it and say he really got 99%)
I realize you are trying to be funny (and failing miserably) with your use of hyperbole, but IMHO it does invite serious commentary. If you knew anything at all about Hitler/Nazi Germany you would certainly know that Hitler did not start the 'ovens burning' on day 1--it took a long time, and even when they were burning it is debatable how he got to the point of 'turning them on'--it wasn't until years later his direct involvement was revealed. He never publicly announced the 'Final Solution'. In that way, Trump shares a trait with his role model--he practices 'plausible deniability' with every insane statement he makes. When he declares he is 'dictator'--it is always just a joke--until it is no longer a joke. And over the years his disgusting behavior gets normalized and the latest despicable act doesn't seem as bad as the previous ramping up of hundreds of despicable acts...because we are numbed to it.
Take the 'nazi salute'--a handful of people are alarmed by seeing Musk do it--but we have already seen Trump himself do it a number of times, and certainly it has been ubiquitous at his rallies that are filled with Neo Nazis. So if the MSM never found much to fault about it then--why should they now?
I have never said "Trump is Hitler" because obviously he is not, and honestly I think he is too old and in too sharp a mental decline to even reach the depravity of Hitler. BUT--make no mistake, he shares enough of the sociopathic traits of a HItler that I would not be at all surprised if he ventured into true psychopathic territory. And his actions (or inactions) could potentially be more damaging to humanity than anything Hitler accomplished. The destruction of the entire planet via ignoring the "hoax" of climate change, for example. Or calling the next 90% fatal virus some other stupid ethnic slur and arguing it will go away if we just drink some more of the Trump Kool Aid.
So, while I am sure you are feeling smug by calling out what you view as the absurdity of HItler comparisons, I would argue that you are the frog in the pot of water, slowly being boiled alive. And once you are dead, it won't do any good for us to say "told you so"
President Trump pardoned nearly all Jan. 6 defendants on Monday, making good on a long-standing campaign promise just hours into his second presidency.
He did it twice. To complete the list of “Nazi stuff” at the inauguration. One Nazi salute feels like enough.
I was absolutely sure it was going to be one of those cases where someone takes a photo of someone waving to a crowd and happens to get a moment when it's at exactly the right (or wrong) angle, but it was totally not that. He really put some effort into it.When I saw the video of Musk's nazi style salute, I thought maybe it had been doctored to make it look worse than it was by speeding it up and making it more forceful. Nope. That's exactly how he did it. Anyone in their right mind would not 'wave' to a crowd like that as the gesture is so very infamous.
But our resident apologists can't see it. Pathetic.

Well, his role model didn't do it until after he'd been in office nearly nine yearsThey're probably preparing the ovens as we speak.
To be fair, "Dein Reich komme" is a fairly standard translation. My German bible translates it that way, for example. Not saying you're wrong about the party in question; it's just that this particular point really isn't one.The thing about the Godwin arguments, is that they are supposed to be about ridiculous comparisons to the Nazis/Hitler. Example, "Oh, so you're a vegetarian. You know who else was a vegetarian?" I would even accept that the comparisons between Musk and Henry Ford and Werner Von Braun were a meant to be jokey and that nobody actually should take them seriously.
But in recent years, he seems to be deadly serious about supporting any European political party on the right, such as AfD, and the Austrian party that ran on a "thy will be done..." slogan, with the "thy kingdom come." actually translating as Reich.
Now he does this at the inauguration? At this point, Musk does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. I have no idea if he just finds it funny, or if he is happy to string along fascists. But this was deliberate, and anyone should be bothered by this unless they are already fascist.
Hopefully less than one.How many days till Trump pulls us out of NATO?
Me too. I was prepared to tell people to calm down and not be manipulated by out of context shots. But….. nooooo way.I was absolutely sure it was going to be one of those cases where someone takes a photo of someone waving to a crowd and happens to get a moment when it's at exactly the right (or wrong) angle, but it was totally not that. No, I think I didn't make it clear. The second part is not said, only the first part. The point is that people will fill in the rest.Well, his role model didn't do it until after he'd been in office nearly nine years

You're right, that isn't clear, and still isn't. "Thy kingdom come" *is* the 'first part. The prayer goes: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."Me too. I was prepared to tell people to calm down and not be manipulated by out of context shots. But….. nooooo way.
