Well, obviously my comment was a generalised summing up of the complex legal aid system we have. AIUI asylum seekers meet the criteria of qualifying for legal aid but let's face it, the point being made re the Southport killer's parents was that they would have had little choice but to use specialised human rights lawyers from specialised firms and those lawyers in turn take on whoever qualifies for legal aid, assuming they are assessed as fulfulling the criteria of reasonable prospect of success, not because they personally support that client's political or religious views.

In any case, Starmer has now denied he had anything to do with the document the far right are spreading around that it was he who represented the Southport killer's parents in 2003, and in any case they would have only been 18 at the time so hardly the war criminal masterminds of the Rwandan massacre that the far right were claiming in their disinformation campaign.

Honestly, if Prescott were politically active today, he'd probably be an upper mucky muck in Reform. Man always impressed me as somebody who'd sell his mother for pennies.

It's very hard to take that seriously. Fine, if you didn't like Prescott for whatever thing he did you take as a betrayal of his working class roots, failing to support the Liverpol dockers strike or whatever it was, but claiming he'd now be one of the reactionary bigots to the right of the Tories is just daft.

Why is his opinion remotely relevant? This makes the constant interviewing of Farage look like sensible political reporting.
