Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

It wouldn't need to pass - The Fat Orange Turd could just use his Executive Order power.

Sure, it might get ruled against in lower courts, but he's got his trump card (no pun intended)... an anti-abortion 6-3 conservative majority at SCOTUS who would be only too willing to take his appeal and rule in his favour.
Trump would impose an abortion ban by executive order? You have Trump Derangement Syndrome.

He stated his support for a nationwide ban. Why wouldn't he use his EO power if legislation was stymied by "RINOS" who won't support his plans?

He subverted the Dem led House (which is supposed to exclusively hold the Federal purse strings) when they wouldn't give him the money he wanted for his personal vanity project - the wall that he promised Mexico would pay for. He just used his EO power to divert federal funds from the military. I'll bet you did think h‎e would do that either!

In my opinion, this one poll (albeit not huge, but national and fairly well-conducted) explains the National delusion perfectly.
Scroll down to figures 3 & 4 in particular. roughly 20 f****** percent of Americans believe or are unsure of the proposition that the 'earth is flat' or that 'the Apollo moon landing was faked'!! Roughly 20 f****** percent of Americans voted for Trump! Granted, some of the poll respondents were not voters, and when you look at the data, while the strong majority of the conspiracy believers were Trump supporters (not surprising) not all of them were. Nevertheless, it shockingly drives home the very clear point that a *significant* portion of Americans are naive, uneducated, just plain stupid. When you are surrounded by intelligent people, as I have been most of my life and probably many of the people on this forum as well, it is easy to forget just how many stupid people--people easily manipulated--are out there. The Gen Z/X numbers in the poll are most shocking--they are the ones most likely to believe in conspiracies like vaccines giving us microchips etc. And that, clearly, is the result of growing up on a diet of Youtube 'experts' and social media garbage. Sigh...
Survey Says
And you can include those idiots who think Bigfoot is real among the Stupidati as well!!

Trump has already said that he would veto an abortion ban if passed by Congress, so he sure as hell is not going to try to impose one by executive order (which I doubt the president has authority to do anyway) in the absence of Congress passing such a bill.

Your opinion is noted, but really, when has something being illegal stopped trump before?

In an interview with NBC News today, the president-elect said his administration would have "no choice" but to carry out those deportations.

"It’s not a question of a price tag. It’s not - really, we have no choice," he told the network.

"When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they’re going to go back to those countries because they’re not staying here. There is no price tag."

It's looking like Kamala will end up with some 70 million votes. People in blue states did not bother to show up to vote. What number of house members did we lose because of that?

He's going to get off scot free, isn't he? :(

It looks that way with the criminal cases, but the civil cases don't look so clear cut:

What happens to Trump’s criminal and civil cases now that he’s been reelected

The former president is also defending himself in a litany of civil lawsuits, including ones concerning his role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, two E. Jean Carroll defamation cases, and a civil fraud case brought by the New York attorney general where Trump was ordered to pay nearly $454 million in damages.

In September, state and federal appeals courts in New York heard arguments for two of Trump’s civil appeals.

Trump lost two defamation cases to Carroll in 2023 and 2024 in federal court after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing the onetime columnist and subsequently defaming her. Two juries awarded Carroll $5 million and $83 million...

Interesting light-hearted look at why Trump won from Matt Green - 3 minute YouTube video.

I found the following bit particularly funny:

Interviewer:
How are Democrats reacting ?

Pundit:
Like a man walking in on his wife having sex with the dog for a second time. A mixture of shock, horror and disbelief and also a creeping suspicion that there must be something wrong with them for this to have happened again.

So according to Reuters, someone decided to sic a hitman on Dump.
Am I a bad person for wishing someone would just shoot him already? Like, not some idiot who misses because he aims for the head, or someone who chooses to lie in wait with the rifle barrel poking out of the bush? Only reason the idiot is still alive is the people who have come after him have been at his level of intelligence. Imagine if it had been someone with average IQ.

I suppose if they do manage to kill him, though, he'll just be superceded by someone far worse, and the GOP will use it for all it's worth. But it's a nice thing to imagine.

JD Vance for POTUS is more scary because he has the same lack of morality that Trump has, the same greed, and the same level of evil. However, JD is young and capable.

And after years upon years of over 30,000 lies, you believe him now....on this?
