Donald Trump

I suspect the whole microphone thing is Trump's handlers intentionally censoring him. The less he speak the less self-sabotage he does.

This is an example of Latino Trump supporters. It tells the story of how cultish Trump supporters are and how uncomfortable they are with facts.

I think it's a phenomenon we've had here since the Thatcher years which we know as "shy/embarrassed conservatives" - anyone claiming to be on the fence about Trump at this point is going to vote for Trump but they don't want to admit it to other people.

To the point that some Tory MPs deleted any reference to the party from their Twitter profiles (Michael Fabricant referred to himself as a "Socially liberal MP" and hid it as far as legally possible on election material sometimes using other parties traditional colours.

Yeah, I do worry about that. "Shy Tories" meant John Major won the '92 election despite the polls predicting a hung parliament.

In Springfield, Ohio:

"A patrol commander for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was reprimanded for Facebook posts in which he said he would require proof of who a person voted for before providing aid and would not help Democrats."

"The posts, included in Rodgers’ personnel file, include one stating “At the end of the day I will require proof of who you voted for if you ask me for help. Weapons and ammo are not cheap” and another posted on Oct. 20 that said “I am sorry. If you support the Democrat party I will not help you.”

Rodgers claimed he has no memory of posting the comments and puts it down to a side effect of a sleeping medication. He has profusely apologized.
I'd have to know more about Rodger's past behavior to decide if he posted the statements knowing what he was doing or if they are an aberration due to the medication. I believe he's referring to Ambien. I also take Ambien once or twice a week and have no side effects but not everyone reacts the same way. I can also not find at what time he made the FB posts which could be crucial. Were they made during the time he usually is sleeping? If not, I'd be more inclined to believe he made them knowingly.
Sure, I'm willing to cut him some slack in the absence of more evidence. OTOH, "I don't remember doing this thing because I was zonked out on drugs" is not, ideally, the sort of thing you like to hear from a (presumably armed) law enforcement officer.

I, like stacyhs, am lucky in that I have a prescription for the generic version of ambien, I've taken it a bunch of times (usually 1-2 times a week) and have never gone full out racist or said nasty ◊◊◊◊ to people....that I didn't mean to. I have said nasty ◊◊◊◊ but I always meant to.

IIRC (and I may not), Roseanne Barr tried the same excuse for some hideous thing she said- and later said more of the same sort of hideous things; which seems to indicate that, yeah, it's the person talking, not the drug.

Ambien made R Barr buy a Nazi uniform and make a video.

Also, yes, but I believe the instance he is referring to was when she posted on Twitter that a news lady looked like one of the monkeys from Planet of the Apes or one of its sequels (I've never watched them).

I know that, but I'm pointing out that she has a propensity to doing racist stuff so blaming ambien is a very weak excuse.

Do you ingest it as prescribed, or do you mash it up into a fine powder and put it up your nose? It's been suggested Trump takes the latter avenue. Does that make a difference? I haven't a clue.

Isn't that why he always requests a Diet Coke with a straw?

I believe that's in regards to adderral or ritalin maybe? I don't know that sticking sleeping meds in your nose would have much of a different affect, but I've honestly never tried it and don't see it happening in the near future. I did have a good friend that had a fondness for snorting adderral, it ended up being her downfall in her late 20s.
