It's not unheard of. The creator of Telegram (I think) just got arrested. It was claimed he was aware of his platform being used to commit crimes. If Musk is knowingly allowing his platform to break the law, then he can be arrested. Which would be hilarious to me.

"That basically said" is also pretty slippery. From the same guy who seems to think it's more important that election memes be politically useful than that they be truthful, I suspect at the least a motivated misreading of the "threatening letter."

I remember interviews iwht Vance after his book became a best seller. The guy is not stupid. I am now convinced he is doing a "Ignorant Hillbilly" act to get votes. Problem is he is overdoing it and is comng off as an idiot.

I don't think he comes of as an idiot as much as he comes off as a major jerk. Somebody incredibly unlikeable. His religious beliefs are right of Attila the Hun. Also Trump gets away with lying and doubling down on his lies. When Trump lies and is fact checked he just rolls right on through it and usually repeats the lie. Vance feels stupid trying to do that so he tries to justify the lie. Which doesn't help.

The owner of Telegram, Pavel Durov, is a French citizen and was arrested by the French police for drug trafficking and the distribution of child sexual abuse images. Allowing Trump back on X is not illegal. Vance's claim is ridiculous.

I have to agree with acbytesla. Vance isn't IQ stupid, but he's an extreme right, conservative religious ideologue which makes him a special kind of stupid and dangerous.

As I've said many times, a person can be both high IQ and stupid at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive.

What bothers me more than the "pro-life" stance here is the casual assumption that women have no agency in the matter.

No, "George Soros" will be "loading them onto planes" like freight.

A few years ago I got into an exchange here with a poster who could not understand why I was arguing that if Alabama is going to make it a crime for a doctor to commit abortion *because it is murder*, it ought to make it a crime for a woman to hire a hit man. He thought I should just be grateful the statute did not go that far. But to me it revealed that personhood was never the issue. Women's agency was the issue.

Hell these people would probably be fine with abortion if was the man's decision.

An "EU Official" cannot arrest anyone. A representative of sovereign government might be so empowered.
