Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

I wonder if his firing frenzy took too many of the good debuggers? Some excellent programmers in terms of productivity are not so strong in the skills required to find a problem when or before it happens. They write what I call "optimistic code".
Or they ran. There are plenty of tech jobs out there without ignorant idiots like Mushie to deal with.

Yeah. Obvious scenario but strangely not obvious to people creating the scenario is that if you go with "if you don't like it, leave" the ones most likely to leave are the cream who have good choices out there and the ones most likely to stay are the ones with little or no choices out there.

Most likely, yeah. The thing about such stunts where you create an incentive to leave / disincentive to stay, is that the best professionals will be the first to leave. Just because they have the most alternatives available elsewhere.

It's a bugbear of mine. There are 2 books I've tried to persuade managers and tech leads to read. Peopleware by deMarco and Lister : theme "most software project problems are sociological, not technological." which discusses issues like the best leaving as they have a choice.
Simple and Usable Web, Mobile, and Interaction Design by Giles Colborne : Theme: "Simplicity is a discipline that can be learned. " One manager I lent the latter to gave it back half read as he had so many changes he wanted to make based on the first half.

It would be amusing how much fake news musky himself is spreading on xitter, if it wasn't so dangerous.

On Saturday, Musk reshared a screenshot of a Medium article on X — the social media website he also owns — by the noted ********** who goes by the handle "Wall Street Silver." The article's headline reads "45% of Women Estimated to be Single and Childless by 2030," with subtext declaring that "recent data" estimates "that 45% of women between ages 25 and 44 will be single and childless by the time 2030 rolls around," and that "the number of single women in the U.S. is expected to rise 1.2% every year." These figures are followed by images of women including the trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Musk, a leading figure in the pronatalist movement, added the caption: "This is extremely concerning!!"
...
Instead, the world's richest person — not to mention one of its most powerful unelected figures — seems to keep using the site to amplify actual propaganda.

As of this article's publishing, Musk's tweet has been viewed over 70 million times.
Futurism: Elon Musk Tweets Plagiarized Article Bylined by Fake Writer

He often deletes the post, but only after an awful lot of people have already seen it. A recent one, in which he retweeted a post by the leader of far right Britain First, which featured a fake headline from the Daily Telegraph, claiming that Keir Starmer was planning detention camps in the Falklands, reached 1.8 million views before it was deleted.

Looks like Musk's Twitter is free speeching it up still, as long as that speech isn't about how Trump's campaign bullied an individual at Arlington:
The Army defended the cemetery official after the incident, saying the employee was only trying to enforce the rules that prohibit political activity on the cemetery grounds when they were reportedly shoved aside.

Users who attempted to view the story through a link on X on Thursday were redirected by the platform to a warning page that reads “this may be unsafe.”

“The link you are trying to access has been identified by X or our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe,” it continues. Source

Most of us are old enough to remember Musk purchasing Twitter and labeling NPR as state funded media despite them, you know, not being that.

Naturally Twitter is saying it was a "false positive" and totally fixed it.

Pretending for a moment that the claim was true, I wonder how Musk would propose the "problem" of 45% of women not getting married or having children should be "fixed". I have a feeling I know what he would think privately, but I'm curious about what he'd say publicly.

anybody who says musk is in favor of free speech kind of automatically loses all credibility with any kind of current events discussion. the places they get their information from must be absolutely insane.

I had a quick look through Elon Musk's own Twitter feed, and honestly, it's like reading Alex Jones-level craziness. I would have said David Icke, but Icke, to give him the slender credit he deserves is at least consistent in seeing Musk as completely untrustworthy.

For example, Musk is here wondering "what has happened to the UK" on a post referring to the arrest of an 11-year old boy in the UK. He is a quote-tweeting Wall Street Silver linking to something called AF Post, which is something I had never heard of before, and of course it turns out to be a pro-Trump website called America First Post.

Link

The assumption that him and his weirdo reply-guys and girls are making is that the boy was arrested for Tweets, but the BBC point out that he was arrested for violent conduct during the recent riots. Anyone who has seen footage of those riots know that one of the shocking sights were indeed of children being involved in them.

The replies are a cornucopia of conspiratorial racist nonsense about how the whites are being replaced by the non-whites who all get preferential treatment.

I'm curious as to how Musk can claim to be the genius he claims to be. His X content demonstrates his stupidity and shallowness.

X, formerly known as Twitter, has said it expects to be blocked in Brazil after failing to meet a deadline to name a new legal representative for the company.

The social media network closed its office in the country earlier this month, saying its representative had been threatened with arrest if she did not comply with orders it described as "censorship".

Justice Moraes gave X 24 hours to name a new legal representative or face suspension, with the deadline coming just after 20:00 local time (23:00 GMT) on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the bank accounts of Mr Musk's satellite internet firm Starlink have been frozen in Brazil following an order by the country's Supreme Court.
