The Tim Walz campaign, and the ******** attacks upon him.

I really don't understand it.

Are they seriously mocking people who have used IVF?

Is that what they are doing?

I know a lot of people, including very right-wing family members, who have used IVF to build their families.

What in the heck is even their point?

If they're trying to prove just how stupid, insensitive, and low they will go, they've succeeded. MAGA have no shame whatsoever.

Honestly, the more they do that kind of stuff the better off Harris and Walz are. The audience for making fun of folks that struggle getting pregnant is pretty small and IVF hasn't been controversial since 1980. Also, the sperm cup, my first thought was of the couch. This isn't going work for them, except for the very inside base that he doesn't need to work on. But then normies might not even here about it and the dots really connect in a straight line. Plays into the weird thing though. Great example of group think and cult like behavior. The Inside crowd is laughing up a storm and everyone outside is at best confused or getting a totally different message.

I heard a funny super cut this weekend of various conservative and republicans commentors say basically, "If trump stays on script and talks about issues x, y, and z they can win but if they keep talking about Harris not being black, her crowd size or ......whatever petty BS Trump can't keep from talking about they could win" What's that fable about a scorpion wanting a ride across a river? Of course Trump is gonna hammer the petty BS.

idk why they think trump is good on issues, he hasn’t even really ever had a grasp on what the issues are let alone had a position or policy on anything. seems to me they wish trump wasn’t trump.

There is a weird internal consistency with it. If you actually believe that a just-fertilized embryo is a human (as most anti-abortion advocates claim to believe), then IFV results in the death of many, many humans because a typical IFV process will result in excess fertilized ova. Which are either discarded, or in some cases stored frozen forever and ever until the rapture comes along (that is literally the intention). Or a technological breakdown that possibly resembles the road to hell causes everything to thaw out.

It's always been a sort of a double-standard within the movement. So now the real True Believers are turning on the false anti-abortion advocates. Like a purge.

The joke (I hope it's a joke) I'm hearing is that the reason he keeps saying that immigrants are mentally ill is because he keeps hearing about "asylum" and assumes it means insane asylums. And the reason he thinks they are all getting credit cards is because they keep talking about Visas.

The scary part is, I'm not convinced it's a joke. It's kind of the Trump equivalent of Poe's law.

I don't think he does but if someone gives him a script, if he could follow it, polling is showing that of the issues most folks think are important they mostly trust the GOP more, except for abortion.

This is something I got from a recent 538 politics podcast, I can't seem to find which one nor polls that support the contention. Pretty sure I reporting what 538 said correctly though. Anyrate, my only point in that is that expecting Trump to stay on topic is like expecting Lucy to not take the football out from under you.

Which is why I don't think some R's would have been all that sad if that fellas aim had been a bit better.

There's a scene in the 2012 Dredd reboot where Dredd and Cassandra are entering Peach Trees (the tower block controlled by the big bad) and they come across a homeless guy with a sign reading "Will debase myself for credits".

A significant portion of MAGA are that guy, except they too stupid to ask for pay.

For them policy isn't doing stuff to improve the country (Murrika is the greetest after all), but to hate on the people they hate.

Fine. I'll do it.

apparently, the new accessory for Trump rallies is a semen sample cup with Vance's face.

It is to mock Tim Walz for sharing him and his wife's experience with IVF.

My younger son is the result of IVF, so my wife and I have a special level of contempt for MAGAts now.

I got us back on topic. You're welcome, shemp.

They are probably genuine. I think that Vance misheard the chants of "coach" as "couch" and lost control.

That's the thing. Fertility treatments are fairly common. Not necessarily IVF, but some sort of assistance. I can guarantee, there are people at those hate marches that have had such treatments, even IVF. There's people who adopted, who are raising step-children, people who act as surrogate parents, etc.

the funny part is, they want him to use their preferred dog whistles and self aggrandizement. The ones the main stream media will help push.

I was going to make a joke about mega-donors, but it looks like I'm late to the party.

You mean the experience that he never had?

Minnesota first lady Gwen Walz clarified in a statement to CNN that she did not use in vitro fertilization to conceive, sharing new details about her and Gov. Tim Walz’s fertility struggles as the governor has highlighted their experience with infertility on the campaign trail.

In her statement, Gwen Walz said they used a different fertility treatment, intrauterine insemination.

The Republicans are foolish to make this a fight, but that doesn't excuse Walz for lying. It's a classic political lie; tying your stance on an issue to an event in your personal life that didn't happen.

Or as every one in the world would say when discussing it informally "IVF". Yes the term IVF has a precise medical meaning, but it is also the term that people generally use when they've had medical help to conceive.

Well, there's a distinction nobody cares about. Another, I guess, attack that will fall flat. They're lying about IVF they had this other procedure that's basically the same thing in everyone else's mind. This is similar to the he really wasn't a command Seargent because he retired as a Seargent major thing. Nobody cares, not even veterans.

ETA: What Darat said with more brevity.
