The Tim Walz campaign, and the ******** attacks upon him.

I don't think he really believes he's going to prison, if I'm being honest. He would think he's above that.

He's being sentenced September 18th in New York. And there are pretty goods odds that he will be sentenced to prison. It hasn't been made public. But Trump's lawyers have the New York State sentencing report. And given there reaction, it seems evident that the State is recommending prison.

The possibility of prison looms large. How could it not concern him?

Lets take this to the Trump thread, shall we? I don't want to disgrace Tim Walz with the taint that is Trump.

Dennis Kozlovski, CEO, went to prison. He had gold shower curtain, Trump style. He was sort of stupid. He could have just paid the CEO a bigger salary.

I heard him speak once. He sounded like a used car salesman. He rose to wealth selling some gizmo that went into everybody's cable TV line. Then later Tyco.

There was some thought during the 2016 (I know I thought it) that Trump didn't really want to win. He just wanted the attention and the ability to market the Trump brand. Him winning was as much of a shock to him as it was to the rest of the nation. I wonder if he's kind of doing the same thing here.

When you think about it, if he blows the election he has zero of the responsibilities that come with the White House, he can still scream and moan that it was stolen, he can keep grifting his people (which is worth more than 400K) and won't have to worry about running again.

I'm not saying Trump is smart enough for a conspiracy, but coming up with a plan to maximize his profits and have no responsibility is right up his aisle. Dragging down Vance doesn't bother him a bit because Vance (or anyone) aren't people to him.

ETA: Just realized that we might be off topic, I thought this was the election thread. Mods, feel free to move it or do whatever.

This year is different a) his jeopardy is a lot higher if he loses, there's no way back for him politically and b) what little sense he had left in 2016 has long fled out the window.

My first graduate job was for Tyco. (ADT).

The brazenness of the embezzlement must have been its own reward.

Is Tim Walz the Manchurian Candidate?

Republican James Comer has now announced an investigation into Tim Walz..

China has undue influence in US politics. It selected Tim Walz for Kamala Harris. .Governor Harris is a deep cover agent for Communist China. His ties to China goes back to the 1980s. Taken over 30 trips to China? Has Walz sold out America? Congress must know before this Manchurian candidate finds himself a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

It's amazing they actually have time to do their part in ruñning the government with all these investigations and diversions. Oh, they don't have time for anything to do with running the country.

I also have to point out that it's the senior NCO who really run the freaking Army on a day to day basis. Just ask anybody who has been in the Army.
I admit one of the more amusing things I saw in the US Army was a Master Sergeant with 20 years in put a green Second Looey right out of West Point or OCS in their place all the time addressing them as "sir".
NCOs, especially senior ones, have many ways to enunciate "sir", some of which are basically "you idiot".

Performative politics, and pretty much the definition of "weaponizing the government." As with Trump's selection of JD Vance for VP, it's not designed to accomplish anything beyond appealing to a base whose votes they already (and will always) have. The optimist in me would like to think that it's the sort of blatant stunt that will actually backfire and turn away the more moderate voters when all the expensive flailing comes up with the usual nothing.

Governor Harris?

Hm. So Gov. Walz is a deep-cover sleeper agent for China, but Trump is a wide-awake agent for Russia, North Korea, [insert dictator du jour here]. I can't believe I have to explain this to a Republican, but most of us have worked extensively with Chinese manufacturers over the past few decades. My business development and manufacturing people have made many trips to China since the early 2000s. Not so much now, but this is about as credible for Chinese interference as Trump holding an upside down Bible is an indication of his wholesome Christian values.

As with all these “investigations” (Hillary, Biden, Holder, etc.), the point is not do so, the point is to strongly suggest to the credulous there has to be a reason the investigators must do so.

This falls into the political category of "Desperate, idiotic, outlandish, and crazy allegations in order to distract from our own candidate's insanity".

It was established quite some time ago that Comer is a fool, but he just insists on reinforcing it.

What I really love about the Tim Walz choice for Kamala Harris's running mate. He is the antithesis of who Republicans paint Democrats to be. You can't exactly call Tim Walz a coastal elitist. This guy is about as middle class, middle American as anyone could possibly be.

He isn't rich. He didn't go to an Ivy League school. He is a from a small town in Nebraska. He coached a loser High School football team to the State Championship. Career military and wasn't an officer. My understanding is he's a big time hunter. He's won marksman awards.

He's disgustingly relatable to middle America. That is one thing Shapiro wouldn't have been able to pull off. Rural America doesn't trust urban America. (So how they fell in love with Donald Trump??? I still haven't figured out.)

But because he's so relatable, the attacks fall flat.
