The Tim Walz campaign, and the ******** attacks upon him.

“Well, Roe v Wade was ended because of Trump, he also totally failed to handle the pandemic, he just attacked the popular governor of Georgia for not cheating for him….BUT TAAaAAAaaMPOOOoNSSssZzz!!!”

i kind of put the trans up there with covid lockdowns and blm. it was topical a few years ago and it’s a bit of an obsession for others, but normal people are tired of hearing about it.

Vance is trying to Swiftboat Walz.

The timeline of Walz’s service and the deployment of his unit, the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery Regiment, is relatively clear, through public records, news accounts and press releases at the time:

The 125th Field Artillery Regiment received initial call-up orders in July 2005 and deployed for training in Mississippi that fall as part of the 34th Infantry Divisions’ 1st Brigade Combat Team. The 125th deployed to Iraq in March 2006, 10 months after Walz had separated from the unit.
The timeline laid out in official documents does not cover several factors common to nearly any military unit. Walz, as a senior member of the unit’s leadership, likely knew a deployment was in the unit’s future before the July 2005 activation order. Extended deployments and National Guard activations are often planned across the Army a year or more before formal orders are issued. But the May 2005 date on which Walz’s retirement became official was likely many months after he had ‘dropped his papers’ to inform his chain of command he intended to retire, beginning the process.

Add to that the fact he filed the paperwork to run for Congress in Feb. 2005, there's really no evidence he retired in order to get out of being deployed. This is nothing but manufactured MAGA faux outrage.

I think the flag sorely needed one more stripe - a white one - to represent snow. And maybe even a green one, for the trees. I know those options were among the many submitted, but not chose.

I followed the development, design, and selection of the flag because flag design is pretty cool.

The whole connection to Somalia came about because there was a variation of the flag that was chosen that had blue, white, and green horizontal bands on the right side. The colors were chosen to represent landscape features similar to what you suggested. That design looked quite similar to the flag of the Somali state of Jubaland.

I don't know if that had anything to do with the rejection of that design or not. There was a whole process and committee and such. I doubt Walz had any say in the matter. Maybe at some point he mentioned his preference.

I liked it better with the stripes. The two-tone blue looks off to me. But it doesn't look like the Somali flag, at least not anymore than probably any flag will look somewhat like another flag. I don't think the connection would have been made if not for the other rejected design.

What color would represent the mosquitos?

The original design the flag was based off was the flag you describe.

The thing I'm finding about the wave of redisgned US state flags is that they're essentially replacing one set of boring and uninspired flags with a different, slightly more diverse set. This is due to an overly perscriptive and restrictive "best practise" handbook issued by the US vexilogical association re good flag design. The handbooks author forgot that la Tricolore isn't iconic because of itssimple design but because of the ideals it represents and the movements it inspired.

Or the red, white and blue of the USA flag, clearly taken from the red, white and blue of the British flag.

One of the Schoolhouse Rock shorts from back in the 1970s, probably either "Shot heard Round the World" or "No More Kings", literally showed colonists taking a British flag, peeling apart the colors, and rearranging them to make an American flag.

EDIT: It was "No More Kings" at 2:24. The lines "We're gonna elect a President. He's gonna do what the people want." are painful now.

This individual is death to rational ideas at many levels.
It seems he is assured of the ticket.

Can't wait to see you explain how you came to this conclusion. No...really...can't wait....because I have better things to do than wait for something that will never be forthcoming.

On social media I watched one MAGA cultist try to claim that Vance was some super brave warrior because he actually deployed to the Middle East.

A veteran came in and countered with more details about Vance's career in detail...and I learned a new slang word today: Fobbit!

Worry not, I can explain. They came to that conclusion because they're mindlessly parroting some drooling alt-right nutjob on X.
