Cont: Musk, SpaceX and future of Tesla II

I don't know why everybody is so obsessed with the humanoid shape. It seems to me that, by doing that, you are committing lots of sophisticated resources like actuators and sensors and complex software to simple things like just standing upright. If your robot is going to operate in an environment where you know the floor is flat, just stick it on four wheels.

Amen. The mock-up looks like another Muskian stunt.

I kind of assumed the first use for these would be as personal robots, but it turns out what Musk has in mind is Tesla factories, "interacting with human tools and environments". Still, if they are really going to be 20k, or anywhere close to that, a lot of people are going to want one.

if they can’t make a $35k ev they’re not making a $20k cyborg

more bs from the queen of bs imo

Dood, won't you think of my carpet? I can't have wheel tracks everywhere!

I just came across this but it looks like it's been out for awhile. Raccoons are apparently mistaking a cybertruck for a dumpster:

In a post on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, the owner showed off pictures of the vehicle's tonneau cover, which was covered in adorable muddy paw prints.

"Raccoons tried to enter vault overnight while camping in Minnesota!" the user wrote, using Tesla's overly optimistic marketing term for an enclosed truck bed. Source

To be fair, up in here in Northern North Dakota\Minnesota raccoons just try to get into everything.

The raccoons were breaking in because, like most people, they mistook the cybertruck for a dumpster.

i wonder what part of elon's vision of saving humanity at all costs he sees with trump? i'm going to assume it's the part where elon musk gets a bunch of money and power.

or is this going to be one of those instances where it's actually the left's fault for being so gosh darn hard on him that he had to ally with the right wing grift

What is ironic is that Trump advocates a number of anti EV policies, as part of his general hatred of alternative energy .

The cheapest model of the Cybertruck has been dropped.

Now the Cybertruck is officially more than twice the price that Musk promised it would cost.

There’s no doubt inflation factors in, but the jump from $40k to near $100k is unconscionable, and puts it way beyond what we’d consider paying right now, especially with the teething problems plaguing the early production models.

We’ll probably end up with an EV pickup eventually, but our ICE Toyota Tundra is fine for now. If forced to purchase an EV pickup now, the Rivian R1T seems like a more polished product, and only getting better over time. IF they can find their way to profitability.

On a "positive" note, it's selling very well for a six figure vehicle.

"Promised." Corporations tout aspirational and ultimately unachieved goals for upcoming products all the time. Begrudging Musk for doing the same as literally every other CEO (and politician) is just more special pleading from people who already hold an arbitrary grudge against him anyway.

He was already selling them at a lower price and then dropped the model. I don't think this is quite the flex you thought it was.

No, they really dont.

Its the same argument you tried last time, and it failed then.

Name the last time Apple or Samsung said they were going to release a phone for X$, then actually released it for 2X$?

Or any other car manufacturer?
