The CNN article does indeed say that Trump was taken to the bunker by the Secret Service.
Yes, thank you. Nothing else needed to be said.
So in your opinion, CNN is a trustworthy source of news?

The only part I have yet to understand is why Trump wasn't wearing his shoes.

Aren’t these his platform shoes? Probably uncomfortable so I imagine *conspiracy theory incoming* that he takes off his platform shoes behind the podium and changes into some comfy slippers on a raised platform. He’s actually only 5 foot six.
The above comes from 'rally-goers,' in other words, magamutts. Two thoughts:
- Despite being law 'n order zealots, most of the maga crew hate the police.
- The officer did the right thing. Priority No.1 for police officers: Return home to your family at the end of your shift.

This bit of news (from Associated Press) had passed me by:
Rally-goers noticed Crooks climbing on the top of the roof of a building armed with a rifle, and a local law enforcement officer climbed up a ladder to confront him. Crooks pointed his rifle at the officer, who then retreated down the ladder.
Crooks then quickly fired at Trump before being shot himself by snipers.
Biden is supposed to address the nation at 8:00 p.m.
Started on time.
I know it's difficult to think of something like this on the spur of the moment, but if the officer couldn't shoot him, he might have fired a shot into the air, which would have gotten the SS to jump on Trump and take him down.
one local officer hoisted another to get up to the ledge. The shooter turned around, saw the officer peering over and pointed his gun at him. The officer let go of the ledge to “take cover” and save his own life.
The CNN article makes it appear that maybe there was no ladder:
That sounds like he needed both hands just to hold on and therefore would not have been able to shoot at the would-be assassin even if he wanted to.
Shoulda used drones.
The question I'd be asking is how, with such an enormous number of cops and feds, they didn't have the obvious roof covered with a detail on it.

I haven't seen any. Many he thought that Stuart-Houston sounded less Jewish.
Prompting the question: okay, how did the nut get on the roof himself?
It's interesting that conservatives now suddenly are on board with and firm believers in stochastic terrorism.
