Merged Trump shot in PA??

The only part I have yet to understand is why Trump wasn't wearing his shoes.

Aren’t these his platform shoes? Probably uncomfortable so I imagine *conspiracy theory incoming* that he takes off his platform shoes behind the podium and changes into some comfy slippers on a raised platform. He’s actually only 5 foot six.

My hypothesis as stated in the Conspiracy thread: Those lifts in his shoes are so high that he probably popped out of them when he went down. When he got up, he insisted on putting them back on so he wouldn't look three inches shorter when walking off the stage.

The above comes from 'rally-goers,' in other words, magamutts. Two thoughts:

  1. Despite being law 'n order zealots, most of the maga crew hate the police.
  2. The officer did the right thing. Priority No.1 for police officers: Return home to your family at the end of your shift.
;)

It's what I would have done. No way I'd take a bullet for that ****.

This bit of news (from Associated Press) had passed me by:

Rally-goers noticed Crooks climbing on the top of the roof of a building armed with a rifle, and a local law enforcement officer climbed up a ladder to confront him. Crooks pointed his rifle at the officer, who then retreated down the ladder.
Crooks then quickly fired at Trump before being shot himself by snipers.

I know it's difficult to think of something like this on the spur of the moment, but if the officer couldn't shoot him, he might have fired a shot into the air, which would have gotten the SS to jump on Trump and take him down.

The CNN article makes it appear that maybe there was no ladder:
one local officer hoisted another to get up to the ledge. The shooter turned around, saw the officer peering over and pointed his gun at him. The officer let go of the ledge to “take cover” and save his own life.

That sounds like he needed both hands just to hold on and therefore would not have been able to shoot at the would-be assassin even if he wanted to.

Ok that makes sense. It was just a thought that, if he had a free hand, he might have fired a shot to get the attention of the SS. Of course, if he had, some SS sniper might have thought the cop was trying to shoot Trump and might have shot him. So just as well he didn't.

Prompting the question: okay, how did the nut get on the roof himself?

Time will tell. He might have accessed it from a different direction than the cop did. Like maybe there was a ladder around the other side of the building from the cop, or roof access from inside.

It's all just speculation, and it could even be that the CNN article I linked to is wrong.

We're still in the fog of war phase of learning what happened, many initially reported "facts" may turn out to have been wrong.
