Trump has too much power. The power of the angry low income classes. Who have no idea how their life could be improved. As long as liberals are made to suffer, they are even OK with that.

Now we had the debate. Talk is of Biden quitting. This again gives Trump too much power. It looks like a win if Biden quits.

Result of...
1 Biden steps down...unknown
2 Trump steps down...he goes to prison

No wonder he made an all out attack. His last chance to derail Biden.

But did Biden lost support ?

Those poll results seem to indicate that, and it's not a stretch to think some independents would prefer a president who wasn't quite so close to terminal failure, especially when his #2 is so hated.

I still don't quite understand why Kamala Harris is so evil to so many, but I don't get a vote.

Problem is the kind of candidate that would make the Berniebros happy would be way too far to the left to win in the general election.IMHO we are screwed Trump will probably win in November, and, empowered by the Suprme court, try to establsih a dictatorship in the US, with a probable Civil war resuleting. if you ever want to live in a democracy again, prepare for that.

Guy, you seem to be very happy about the idea of Trump 2.0
Given you have never concealed your contempt for the US in general, you prob ably are rejoicing in the idea he will destroy the US as a major power. Just remember this, Internatinal politics is like nature, it abhors a vacuum, and something will take the US Place. Hope you like a world dominated by Putin and China.

The what now??

Again...

Can you please sound more MAGA. When was the US "great" before?

What rule states that the USA in particular must be the one-and-only major power in the world and a balance against Putin and China? Could it be time now for other players who are not the same as the USA and who are more stable and not prone to electing fascist morons like Trump?

Imagine such a candidate. Really think about it. Use all the straw you need. They graduated from Berkeley. They're wearing a Che Guevara shirt with a trans rights flag pin. They derive sexual satisfaction from seeing middle aged white men denied the use of the 15 items or less line at the supermarket. Would you vote for them? You, dudalb, self-avowed conservative Democrat, would you personally hold your nose and vote for them for the sake of preserving democracy in America?

If you would, by your own logic everyone to the left of you would have an increasingly easier time and such a candidate should be a shoo-in. So what's the problem?

Unless this is a tacit admission that you would not vote for them, that you personally, dudalb, would rather have Trump in office than a *gasp* SOCIALIST *shock* *faint.* Is that the case?

Given that this is the third election in a row where it turns out the only candidates that aren't "too far left to win in the general election" are incredibly old, out of touch, and stand at best 50/50 odds of beating a carved pumpkin of Adolf Hitler, maybe you need to recalibrate your radar a skosh?

Who is going to step in
The EU? Don't make me laugh.

I would vote for just about anybody other then Trump.
I am not sure there are that many like me out there.
Anyway, you constant dumping on anybody who is not as left wine as you are is a sure way to gurantee the right will win.'
BTW Newsom seems to be pretry much on the same page as BIden.

You shouldn't. The EU is more powerful and stable than the USA right about now.

Yes, but but they don't have the military power..particularly when it comes to Naval power. The death of Democracy in the US will put Democracies world wide on the critical list.

There's plenty of yous out there. You were just presuming to speak for them, weren't you? If you're right in asserting it all boils down to left vs right, and all the way left still isn't too far left for you, it's not too far left for the rest of your ideological band. If you would vote for even a caricature tofu-eating alternatively-gendered commie mutant traitor, why do you think your peers wouldn't? Are the people you rub political elbows with stupid or something? Do they not perceive the danger of a Trump victory as you do?

[ETA] The left's problem with the center's candidates is they suck. You felt blindsided by Biden's debate performance. I didn't. Believe me, he's always been that old. That's what the rest of us see. That ****'s the best you got. If centrism actually worked the way centrists insist it should, Trump would never have been elected dogcatcher, much less President once and maybe twice and/or for life. But it clearly, clearly, doesn't. Newsom's a putz, he wouldn't be any better.

Not the ones I quoted and cited.

Those two subjects are now inextricably linked, or are classic far-right media organisations like HuffPo just revelling in the awful performance by Joe?

It's 100% clear Biden lost. Whether or not Trump won comes down to who came out on top and that was Trump.

If one candidate retains support and the other loses it, who won?

When Biden’s support dropped a whopping 1.6 percentage points in a poll where respondents could say they were “considering multiple candidates” and Trump’s number went up a staggering 0.4%, Trump surely won bigly! Hugely bigly! Like we've never seen before! People are saying! What a win!

I ask again: You seem awfully determined to convince me that Trump "won" the debate. Why? I'm not trying to convince you or anyone that Biden won it.

You mean the other NATO countries who squealed like stuck pigs when Trump told them to up their defense spending? Those countries have chosen butter over guns.

It's been 4 days since the disaster debate. Biden has still only (publicly) done 21 minutes of teleprompter speaking...and didnt look well otherwise - just gowatch the whole thing.

If you were Biden...and sharp as a tack and ready to defend your candidacy and avoid a constitutional crisis and an increasingly concerned populace, then you are doing a massively poor job of it by hiding out at Camp David.

The only reason for it is that he CANNOT do it. He is not capable. He is at a point that I do not think he will be in front of reporters(without his notecard of who is 'allowed' to call on) for more than 10 minutes ever again. Not as a candidate.

Maybe an edited network interview or a preselected round table? No way there can be anything left to chance.

Or they pull off the bandaid this week and get with a strategy for another candidate, despite the hurdles.

Very likely lose either way. Maybe they should have allowed a REAL primary. Huh?

Eta: things that do not count as any reassurance:

Predident's remarks
Press briefing
Written statement
Prepared Speech- even with a few planned 'off the cuff' asides.
Edited 'cool Joe' tik toks. Lol

4 days is nothing .. IMHO it's wise to do nothing. It's not even clear if it is a disaster or not. This week we will get some first large after-debate polls, next week even more. Then we'll see.
