Cont: The Biden Presidency (4)

Actual events, but with problematic alterations and problematic logic.

Biden claimed that Hunter's laptop was Russian disinformation? Alright. Even if he was wrong, there's still questions about whether he knew that was false and the nature of that lie. Certainly, it's overwhelmingly less problematic than so very many of Trump's lies that Chris seems to want to embrace. Even if it was a knowingly false statement, were THAT to count as election interference, Trump would deserve many, many convictions.

51 former intelligence officials did sign a statement that described what we were actually able to hear having "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation." To be clear, they were correct. Much of the reason for that can be directed at Guiliani, quite frankly, and his embarrassing and wildly incompetent handling of the matter. Those hung up on Hunter's hard drive never seem to want to put the blame where it actually should lie for that, though, and instead make farcical accusations with little grounding in reality.

ChrisBRFPKY's accusations of election interference and conspiracy to commit election interference are inane and unreasonable, but they're not based in reason in the first place, so that's not likely to stop him from embracing them.

Thanks. I knew the story. I was referring to the highlighted part. That after years of investigation, propaganda and partisan nonsense nothing has come of it.

The convicted felon visited the Capitol where the do nothing Republican Congress got in line to felch Trump.

I had to look up “felch”. Yuck!

Especially repulsive was Ted Cruz’s sycophantic clapping. I used to identify - and vote - as a Republican, and I find this overall debasement of the party disappointing, disturbing and almost inexplicable.

Hard to imagine why people would think that something coming from purveyors of disinformation might be disinformation.

It is nice to know the Hunter Biden laptop is decidedly NOT Russian disinformation.
Assumption not in evidence. It has always been a possibility that the physical laptop belonged to Hunter Biden, was acquired by Russian intelligence, had false information added to it, and was then given to the blind computer repairman. This would mean that it was both Hunter Biden's laptop AND a Russian disinformation ploy.

This possibility has been consistently ignored by right-wingers, just as you will ignore it, as it doesn't get them where they want to go.
Its also possible that the lap-top was never Hunter Biden's, but some of the information in it was stolen by other means (hacking into his email server? Accessing any accounts he has on the cloud?) and put on to some generic lap-top that Biden had never touched.

Thus some of the information on it will be private/accurate, but the laptop as a whole is a disinformation campaign.

Seems like your speculation on what the contents of the laptop are essentially is purely what you fantasise it might have....do you have any inkling of what is in there?
The fantasy has been redefined into the reality that files from the infamous laptop have been submitted into Court as evidence against Hunter and used to acquire conviction. Of course if it's only Russian misinformation, then a mistrial should be called immediately.

I have no idea what Chris is talking about. Over and over and over again this nonsense has been investigated and absolutely nothing has come from it. In the mean time, the arsonist returned to the scene of the crime today. The convicted felon visited the Capitol where the do nothing Republican Congress got in line to felch Trump.
I believe you know full well, but regardless, the laptop is not going away. It seems it has been used as evidence against Hunter. Don't worry though, I'm fairly certain Hunter will reach a plea agreement in the California case as he can't have "Daddy" being made party to his business dealings. (Of course the Big Guy never knew anything about all those millions that were collected right?)

Hmmm. I embrace fact. The same laptop that was labelled as "Russian disinformation" was used as evidence at trial that obtained conviction. Do you offer some sort of Russian conspiracy aimed at jailing Hunter Biden? Do tell.

Again, the laptop files were introduced as evidence in Court, and may be again at the next trial providing it gets that far. It won't.

Seems as though if that were true, it'd be fairly easy to get the laptop tossed out of evidence. It wasn't.

So what? Damaging information can be introduced as evidence in a criminal trial despite a sketchy chain of possession through a wide variety of mechanisms. Some (not all) of the e-mails were verified so it isn't all fraudulent, US law enforcement did not acquire the evidence illegally to the best of our knowledge, the files in question are relevant to the Hunter Biden gun case, so it gets in.

Suppose I hand you a piece of paper that says: "The Sun is hot. The planet Earth is Ruled by Lizard People"

Do you assume that the Earth is ruled by Lizard People because the Sun is hot? Or do you assume the Sun is not hot because the Earth is not ruled by Lizard People? In reality, the first statement and the second statement are unrelated to each other than the fact that they appear on the same piece of paper.

With the Hunter Biden Laptop, Conservatives just keep lumping it all together to further their aims. This lets them say that the unverifiable e-mails that show Joe Biden did sketchy stuff must be legit because here is a picture of Hunter Biden's wang.

They get to do the opposite with the Steele Dossier, declaring it to have been "Debunked" since some of the rumors listed were not true, therefore, Trump is innocent of anything mentioned in it. The Steele Dossier has not been debunked. The Steele Dossier cannot be debunked any more than the Sun/Lizard people note can be debunked.

First you'll need to establish that Chris doesn't believe both statements are true.

The existence that Hunter Biden had a laptop does NOT mean that Russian interference was not at play in this story. But any data that has been reported to be on that laptop is suspect and cannot be trusted.

But it matters not if this was part of Russian disinformation or GOP disinformation. It very well could be both as the GOP has definitely been influenced by Russian tricks. Might as well referred to today's GOP as Putin's Puppets.

Seems as though if that were true, it'd be fairly easy to get the laptop tossed out of evidence. It wasn't.

Evidence for a gun charge that no one but rabid right wingers care about.

The laptop was supposed to provide evidence of Joe Biden's corruption. How'd that work out?

What evidence from the laptop was used? Sure there were pics with Hunter having the fun but I think the main evidence was the form he filled out to buy the gun.

Again, it was a gun charge. Are the psychopartisans forgetting that, again?

A line of investigation that Congressional Republicans have pursued hard, talked up, and beclowned themselves in the process of doing so, given how desperate and dishonest their efforts have been to find or manufacture the impression of a link. All while being deafeningly silent about Trump family doing overwhelmingly worse practically in plain sight.

 Trying to distract and divert from the points made rather than address them? Typical.

Nothing about that disproves the point made there, too.

Chris seems to ignore what the laptop was supposed to prove. That Hunter Biden was accepting bribes from a Ukrainian oil company for favors from VP Joe Biden. Not that Hunter had drug problems. Something Hunter admitted in a book.

He also is ignoring how Hunter Biden's laptop and the data within became in possession of GOP hitmen. He is also ignoring the corrupted chain of custody. But why let something like details get in the way.

To add to that again, that was an "up is down" level lie from the start and one seemingly wrapped in Russian disinformation. Whether Russian disinformation is at the heart of it is harder to say, of course, given that it was popularized by John Solomon, that fake news purveyor, as he acted as a proxy for Trump's efforts to force Ukraine into an investigation of the Bidens under brazenly false premises for the sake of trying to secure re-election. Harder to say, of course, because of how very linked Trump and Putin are and how willing Trump repeatedly demonstrated himself to be when it came to pushing Russian interests.

He's trying to make a mountain out of something small, after all, and keep our attention on it, rather than the actual mountains that he doesn't want to acknowledge.

So, far too many media sources fell for a right-wing edited video where they try to make it seem that Biden wanders off from the G7 summit crowd and talks to an open field, and gives it a thumbs up, y'know, 'cause dementia. Eventually he is tapped on the shoulder to return to the group.

Of course, the unedited and uncropped video shows Biden talking to a person who was cropped out of the video by the right-wing liars. The person appears to be one of several flag-bearing parachutists who soared in for the summit leaders.

https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/misinf...media-uses-misleading-camera-angle-rcna157112

Far, far too many sources ran with this story, including those that should know better, and a handful of sites didn't use an edited video and still cried that Biden was obviously looney for talking with the parachutist.

All of this is the media being its idiotic 'fair and balanced' self because Trump has been taking a bit of criticism for his rambling about sharks and boat batteries at a recent rally. The media really does bend over backwards to aid Trump.

Yep! Hunter's laptop has replaced Hillary's emails.
