Cont: The Biden Presidency (4)

I thought the original post on that subject was sarcasm. Selling from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to try to affect the oil market is entirely routine and has been for decades. It's part of the reason why the thing exists, although its effectiveness seems dubious. The first time I heard of it was one of the times Bill Clinton did the same thing and gave the same reason for it, which Rush Limbaugh made fun of because the amount of oil Clinton said he would flood the market with for the season was a fraction of a single day's supply.

Even if it is more effective than that sounds, making a big deal out of something so ordinary is like making a big deal out of somebody driving a nail into some wood by hitting it with a hammer. If you're telling me that wasn't sarcasm, then you're telling me it's just another example of Biden's defenders throwing away any sense of scale, taking something thoroughly normal and describing it as outstandingly wondrously divinely stupendous.

Hardly ordinary. Republicans seem to use the SPR to improve the profitability of the oil companies. Never responding just to stabilize high gas prices. We see this over and over again. The GOP works to help billionaires whereas the Democrats work for the rest of us.

It is the GOP's fault that the healthcare, banking and oil producers sodomize everyday people every day. They wage culture wars to hide the fact that they are screwing us at every turn.

It's not 'ordinary' - it's by far the largest continuous drawdown ever, with 1 million barrels per day (5% of average consumption) for 6 months.

5% might not sound like much, but in a relatively inelastic market it can make a big difference.

Strategic Petroleum Reserve
In 2022, the Biden administration sold 180 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve over 6 months. The sale lowered the SPR to its lowest levels in 40 years and was the largest ever release of oil from the SPR. SPR drawdowns continued into 2023, lowering the SPR by 45% from January 2021.

As I understand it. Biden sold the oil for premium prices. They are now buying back at discount prices creating a tremendous profit from the transactions.

After Hunter Biden was convicted on all three counts, President Biden said:

As I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal. Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that.

As if we needed even more proof of the Biden administration's weaponization of the Department of Justice.

Yes, I'm joking.

Just like in banana republics where they prosecute their political enemies and then let them walk around free and offer them full access to the appeals system and then allow their own children to also be prosecuted.

Poor Hunter Biden got caught up in A Russian disinformation campaign and was still convicted. ******' Putin.

I went around looking on Hunter Biden's social media and couldn't find him calling the Judge corrupt, talking **** about the jury and prosecutors. Weird how grown-ups act. They take their lumps after being charged and convicted.

Yeah, obviously Trump supporters really have nothing to work with here, so they have to somehow contort this into a dig about the "Russian hoax". It's weird and nonsensical, but, you know... they're Trump supporters.

What a devastating burn for whoever might have made this claim. Take that, theoretical person!

Here's a 20 minute video of "theoretical" people saying just that. Includes CBS News, ABC News, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, the Washington Post, CIA and FBI officials, politicians including Joseph "Pedo Peter" Biden, and on and on and on.

"But Drumpf!" Sad.

At last check, the Russian disinformation claims regarded something notably different than what Hunter was actually convicted of here. Further, it seems rather ignorant to try to raise that connection without acknowledging the nature of the claimed Russian disinformation, regardless. Perhaps you're still triggered because Guiliani actively refused to allow major news networks access to the hard drive that he claimed was Hunter Biden's and so they could not, in good faith, comment much about it beyond Guiliani's embarrassing shenanigans that just happen to be indistinguishable from Russian methods as he pushed an angle that would benefit Russia? Right wing networks, of course, tend not to care about acting in good faith, so they screamed about it and pretended a bunch of false things, which did much to create triggers among their audience. Nevermind that "Hunter Biden's Laptop" is still likely to be the result of an illegal hack and dump operation.

There is decent reason to believe that Hunter Biden being charged as he was involved him being treated more harshly than others who did what he did and quite involves politics making things less fair to him. Even so, guilty is guilty. There's been no push from Democrats for a pardon of Hunter Biden, at last check, and Biden has specifically stated that he wouldn't give one to his son.

Feel free to contrast this with Trump, of course. Politics have actively been used to SHIELD Trump, rather than being used to go after him in meaningful fashion. Yet he still chooses to act as an utter disgrace and tries to claim that up is down when it comes to the effects of politics on the charges that have been brought against him.

Oh, you're talking about the laptop that Republicans claimed would tie Joe Biden to Hunter's "shady business dealings" and bring down the "Biden Crime Family" or whatever. Honestly, I didn't know that was still a thing, but I guess I underestimated conservatives ability to ever let anything go.

That was obviously a massive belly flop, but hey you got Hunter on some unrelated gun charges so... congrats, I guess?

Clown world.

The FBI took possession of Hunter's laptop from a computer repair shop in 2019.
"After being handed the device by a Wilmington, Del., computer shop owner in 2019, the FBI quickly concluded by examining computer data as well as Hunter Biden’s phone records that the laptop was genuinely his and did not seem to have been tampered with or manipulated."

That was one of the weaker deflections I've seen here at the ISF. 2/10.

Also, the laptop is one of the reasons for his conviction. His impulses to video and photograph his illegal criminal drug use was used against him in court.
