Sadly, Republicans are rallying around Trump after the guilty verdict. They are setting up excuses to destroy American institutions and democracy if Trump is elected. The "Mar" in Mar-a-lago is an acronym for Make America Russia.

I remain unconvinced it will put anyone off voting for him. To me, it seems very much the case that Republicans will vote for him, no matter what. Aside from the very small number of never-Trumpers, Reps gonna vote R.

What I think the trial and verdict will do is ensure that every MAGA/Trump-voting POS will vote on election day.

On the flip side, those Biden voters who are struggling in the vibrant economy may not bother.

I said before the trial started that creating martyrs was a very bad idea and I see no reason to change that thinking.
 
I don't think politics should play any role in prosecuting criminals. Also, MAGA POS are always motivated to vote, this trial made no impact on how and when they would vote.

I agree. It just gave them even more to be aggrieved about but it's not going to make more MAGA vote for him.

Including preventing them from being prosecuted. Thankfully, the Trump trials aren't actually about politics, despite the disingenuous cries of his defenders. They're about Trump's criminal actions. Unfortunately, a whole lot of Republicans have gone to great lengths to try to interfere with Trump facing justice and have worked hard to politicize everything bad that Trump's done

Not to mention, they saw the peak result of his first term: The installation of far right judges, who were ready and willing to not only deliver the deathblow to Roe v. Wade, but who were willing to go even further (see the nutter Kacsmaryk down in Texas, who basically outlawed mifepristone on his own)

I am one of those never-Trumpers. In a close election, the felon will need votes like mine. Folks like me will determine who wins this fall.
