Merged Protests disrupt college campuses / Campus Protests

Blocking off all avenues of escape, ordering the crowd to disperse, and then beating the **** out of the crowd for failing to disperse is a time-honored law enforcement tactic.

I've been in such situations. The order to disperse was given long before the kettles and batton charges

Were you in Mott Haven or the Brooklyn Bridge when it happened? If so, you need to speak up. The City of New York paid out millions of dollars to demonstrators to settle the charges. You should let them know the accusations are not true.

The student occupiers of Hamilton Hall had knives and other weapons in their possession. Looks like they were not there to remain peaceful.

Then what happened? Why didn't they use them when the cops went after them?

Could it be "knives and other weapons" (why such vague language?) are useful tools for building temproary shelters and other tasks related to a peaceful occupation?

We have the evidence they started the violence and they went there specifically to do so. The only person who suffered from police violence that day was Ashley Babbit and we have the full video from the encounter. I don't remember police SUVs driving through the crowd. I seem to remember police withdrawing as far as they could to avoid confrontation. Even high fiving them and letting them through in a few cases.

Here's the NYPD letting a group of Proud Boys avoid a subway fare. Cops seem pretty pick and choose about enforcing the law. I wonder white the difference is.

Also, I specifically differentiated between assualting an officer (a felony pretty much anywhere) and "resisiting arrest".
Or they were getting the proud boys the hell out of there before it got even more violent.
While escorting the Proud Boys out of the area, police said there “were multiple incidents of pepper spray being deployed by unknown individuals at the group with one individual requiring medical attention,” adding that due to the “urgency and rapidly evolving situation, a determination was made to place the group on the subway and remove them from the area before the situation could escalate further.”
Or they were getting the proud boys the hell out of there before it got even more violent.

Evidence this has happened at the college campus protests please:

Why escort them onto the subway instead of loading them up into paddy wagons like they do other demonstrators?

Or they were getting the proud boys the hell out of there before it got even more violent.

Usually, that involves handcuffs and a paddy wagon.

I'll take your attempt to redeirect as an admission I'm right. I will graciously accept your concession on the condition you stop asking for informatio nthat has already been provided. If you want to be treated as an adult and participate, you need to get yourself up to speed.

Redirect ?- I've been specifically talking about the campus protests.I can't find this link of yours regarding them

to me it was always about busting scammers and cheats. randi had his million dollar challenge with a lot of specific rules and criteria for people in order to have the challenge be functional, but that rigidity was kind of boring. it was way more interesting when he went on shows to dunk on them or set up demonstrations.

it's really the spirit of it all

That is a lie. Cops showing up doesn't prevent protesters from remaining peaceful and engaging in non-violence and passive resistance.

But nothing is going to stop the cops from being violent which is my point.

Of course, cops get to be as violent as they want, as the Supreme Court has made abundantly clear.

Police Make Arrests at M.I.T., Penn & U. Arizona

From the NYT:
The police arrested protesters at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Arizona early on Friday, as clampdowns on pro-Palestinian encampments continued ahead of commencement ceremonies on U.S. campuses.

Ten people were arrested at M.I.T., the school’s president said in a letter to the campus. The arrests came after days of escalating tension at the university in Cambridge, including the suspensions of some students who had defied a deadline from administrators to vacate the encampment.
I'm not at risk of sending anyone to the Ivy League or MIT anytime soon (2030 isn't soon, right?) but the extent to which some of America's best and brightest are putting their own futures at risk is quite striking and gives me at pause as to whether the pros outweigh the cons.

ETA: There's that mantra once again, "From the river to the sea Palestine will be free." I wonder if they mean free as in "land of the free" or as in judenrein.

"From the River to the Sea", was invented by Likud.
