It's downright bizarre that protests need to be not only non-violent, but also 100% with no damage to property.
This is a criterion specifically designed to make sure that you can ignore the protest no matter what, because if it follows the rules you don't have to act and if they break them, you can use the cops to sort it out.
A legitimate protest can absolutely cause property damage - just not bodily harm.
That horseshoe is something to behold.

To those who think property is theft, other peoples' property is fair game eh?
Yeah and unfortunately for them the situation in the middle east is a lot less black and white than it was in South Africa. Instead of looking at South Africa they should be looking at the conflicts in the Balkans because this isn't an instance of one-sided oppression.
You have never seen the Catholic when they prostrate themsevled in certain ceremonies have you?
Now you are going over the line into out and out religious bigotry.
And the people in that photo are a lot more dignified..as much as I disagree with their viewpoints..then some of the antics I have seen Pentocoastal do whne "Cught up in the spirit".
The President’s announcement that the Encampment is on its deathbed seems to have riled up the Encampers, who were shouting and chanting at the top of their lungs, heedless of the “no-noise” regulations. There are now more than 120 tents in the Encampment, which seems to have expanded overnight (many of the tents are the green-and-white jobs that suggest a common origin.)
Here are some of the crap the NYPD found at Columbia after they kicked out the peaceful anti-war protesters.
Knives, hammer, lots of tools, book on terrorism, other things peaceful people do not use.

"Book on terrorism"?
Is this supposed to be a joke?
It's a Very Short Introduction book, published by Oxford. It's not the Anarchist's Cook Book.
Ridiculous!
So you just get to break someone else's stuff because you're more virtuous? Can I break your stuff? And you certainly know that few if any of the "protesters" will be held to pay for the damaged they made. Lunacy.
Depends - am I in a position to meet the demands of your protest?
Then, sure.
Checked it out on Google Books and it's pretty sympathetic to terrorists. On page 18 they have a picture of "Wafa Idris, the first female 'suicide bomber' or self-martyr... before her mission to a Jerusalem shopping center."
This is part of a section talking about how feminist terrorist organizations are. No, I'm not kidding. Talking directly about Idris and others:
"...women have been front-line actors and consequently, pioneer recasters of gender roles."
Note as well the scare quotes around suicide bomber and the corrected term of self-martyr (which conveniently ignores the fact that on her "mission", Idris killed an elderly Israeli man and injured over 100 others). It also ignores the fact that the reason Idris was willing to become a murderer was because she was depressed because her first cousin (and husband) divorced her when she couldn't get pregnant, and as a divorced woman she had no real place in Palestinian society.

I assume this justification applies to the Jan 6 "protesters" who only damaged property? You may not approve of their cause, but you do respect their methods.
The problem with your reasoning is that everyone thinks their own cause is just.
If you are going to deem it "morally right" to use destruction of private or public property in order to further ones cause based only on individual self-righteousness you literally have no way of legitimately criticising Neo-Nazis or religious zealots from doing the same.
Oh the vandalism of a Jewish cemetery by Neo-Nazis? Its just property damage. Money can fix that no biggie. I don't get why people are all upset.
But they didn't just cause property damage, did they?
It's still happening! I regret to inform that the college students are still somehow at it. But their protests are getting progressively further from the plot. Take, for example, this University of Chicago supplies list, which seems to think dental dams and plan B are needed in order to *checks notes* help the Gazans?
