When do you think I was raised, and why do you think that?

Aside from that, an idea being mainstream at one point in time, then later coming to be recognised as bigoted, is not new, surprising, or bad.

Consider how the British (for example) at one time considered black Africans as lesser creatures, and had no qualms about enslaving them, and trading them as commodities.

Over time this bigoted mindset lost favour, and fell out of the mainstream.

The same has been true of formerly mainstream bigoted attitudes to many people: homosexuals, Catholics, women, the left-handed, Jews...

We call this progress. I think it is a good thing.

Why is she planning on trying to break the law? Certainly nothing she has written about trans people falls under the remit of the new laws.

And when I was born male (practicing) homosexuality was completely illegal and people were still being sent to prison for consensual sex between adults, when I was growing up queer bashing was something the queers deserved, as the Chief constable of Manchester put it homosexuals were "swirling around in a human cesspit of their own making" you'll have to forgive me for not finding your "argument" compelling.

She has a non crime hate incident logged by India Willougby for misgendering, I am sure you are over this one. The new law supposedly goes further, or people would not advise she leaves Scotland.

Her "bigotry" is exclusively trans related, and to their demands in sport, changing rooms, refuges and prisons. She presumably opposes medicating minors.
It is not bigotry against gays. My point to Junkshop is they were raised when transphobia did not exist. That is my bet. Homophobia may have depending on age.

The Scottish law curiously catches so called transphobes.
This is all paradoxical in a muslim context, since trans is fine, but homosexual is not. The reality is homophobia has no legitimacy, but transphobia does. It is all about who can be harmed.
I think of public facing people like Julie Bindel, Kathleen Stock, Douglas Murray and Andrew Doyle. All same sex attracted, and all "transphobes" by designation of Trans activists. All are endangered by the first ministers law.

Agree punishment by process is the concern. Check out @CFFarrow latest post about her arrest by Surrey Police Imv powerful SG Trans lobby looking for a high profile arrest from Day 1. The LA and CC will be discussing already. If I was @jk_rowling I would not be in Scotland.
