Cont: Luton Airport Car Park Fire part II

No, this came about because YOU demanded to know what my qualifications were and squeezed the information out of me, interrogating me as to their content. I don't think they are relevant on a chat forum discussing a current affairs topic.

If I were to say I was an artist, can you dispute that? No. Just as you cannot dispute my being a scientist.

I vigorously dispute your claim to be a scientist, for the reasons I’ve given, and which you have failed to refute. You cannot demonstrate even the slightest correct understanding of the scientific subjects you raise in connection with your arguments, nor any facility with actual scientific methodology.

You are not discussing current affairs. You are proposing a conspiracy theory predicated in large part on your unmet expectations which in turn derive from ignorance of the underlying physical and scientific properties. You are judging the actions of others and the propriety of physical events without first laying the foundation for your judgment. It is therefore proper to challenge you for foundation.

You are the one attempting to satisfy that inquiry by inflating credentials that do not mean what you say they mean.

As long as you insist on basing your arguments on the premise that you know what you're talking about on scientific subjects, i will continue to point out that you do not, and have not in any way qualified yourself to lecture others on those subjects. If you cannot understand how that constitutes a refutation of your position, then I cannot help you.

I can, I have in the past, and I continue to do so now. See, for example, your numerous botched attempts at science I posted above.

What I said in far fewer words. Great anecdata though, where n = 1.
To disprove a statement such as "As you know, employees are not allowed to speak to the press." you only need one example that shows the statement to be inaccurate.

You also, ludicrously, claimed the Fire Service are required to 'sign' the Official Secrets Act, which is also not the case.

Just catching up. This gave me a good chuckle. Snow here is not like in England or the US, where it is here today and gone tomorrow, or even a couple of days later. Best accept that snow is here to stay for the next four months and gradually will get higher and higher...and higher. There is no lull in which you can just nip over to the garage for the correct tyres.

Let's add weather conditions in the USA to the list of things Vixen doesn't understand (but thinks she does).

Were some fava beans and a nice chianti involved?
"Your honour I do not believe that counsel's question can be adequately answered by yes or no and I beg the court's indulgence to answer it properly".
Several times in succession....

It is obvious what I meant. And the proof is in the pudding. There were at least 100 firefighters actively present putting out the Luton Airport Fire and I could find only one firefighter giving an anonymous opinion to the press about it.

No, as Mojo says, you haven't shown that any firefighter was reported as giving an opinion.

If you had found one, that would have shown the opposite to your claim, anyway. The lack of any such reports doesn't prove that firefighters are not allowed to talk to the press (and we know for a fact that they aren't), only that, in this incident, none said anything judged worthy of being reported.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, as usual.
Many parts of the US experience higher snowfalls than Finland, including Ohio, Massachusetts and New York, all places I've lived.

Whilst plastics can be highly inflammable, simple plastics as in your ready meal plastic container, simply burns out very rapidly, shrinking and melting and rarely has time to make nearby metals catch fire.

The interior of a car is of tougher mettle, but you'll find that EV vehicles are not made of the type of plastic you might have in mind with your claim it would ignite via 'radiated heat' .

Scispace

What is the temperature required for a GFRP - as EV car bodies are largely comprised - for it to ignite?

Rubber tyres. Are you sure these would almost immediately catch fire?

More straw.

Vixen on meteorology.Yeah, the weather is pretty uniform across the US - even the lower 48. It's one country, one weather.

Obviously the snow in Minnesota can't be as bad as all that because it's in the same country as Texas and Nevada.

Yes, we can add physical geography and climate to the impressive list of sciences Vixen thinks she understands but doesn't.

In his second Longmire novel, Craig Johnson described a Wyoming canyon:
It was a beautiful spot but, if you spent the first part of the winter here, you spent the last part of the winter here, too.
Four of Yellowstone National Park's five entrances are closed during the winter. The West Entrance usually opens sometime in the second half of April. Three entrances normally open sometime in May. I once tried to visit in May when those entrances didn't open until June.

In 1806, the Lewis and Clark Expedition was unable to cross the Bitterroot Mountains in May, and had to wait until June. When you fly over those mountains, in winter, with a window seat, you don't have to wonder why.

Even in New Hampshire's White Mountains (whose name should provide a clue), winter "hiking" is done on snowshoes and crampons.

Vixen probably figures the weather is more uniform across the US because the US is so much smaller than the UK.

And apparently, no one could possibly change their wheels in their garage at home.

Seriously? You're wrong about everything, all the time.

Your telling me that Finland doesn't plow major roads?

Also, there's plenty of places within the USA that get snow months out of the year. Ever been to the Rocky Mountains (and not just the peaks)?
