Cont: Luton Airport Car Park Fire part II

Please cut out the snobbery. Tony is some kind of car dealer. Okay, so he probably has fewer O-Levels than the suit who writes PR copy for the press, has a provincial accent (Cornish) and wears a t-shirt with a rude slogan. Who would you rather buy a car from? Someone who has been in the trade for decades or some crusty academic who hasn't picked up a spanner or got oil on his hands since college days? Put another way, if your home was flooded, would you want a qualified plumber to fix it or Jenny from Communications to write up a puff piece about 'nothing to worry about'?

Let's not be snobs, peeps. Shame on you, List, shame on you.

Makes a person think - if you wanted a reliable narrative on the actual facts surrounding a car fire would you want it from persons trained and active in the investigation, or from some nobody on the internet who uses car salesmen as a source?

And he knows more than the Fire Service which actually attended the blaze?

Nice smokescreen. Now how about providing some evidence for your claims that the Bedforrdshire Fire and Rescue Service are covering up the dangers of EVs on Rishi Sunaks's orders, preferably without accusing anyone who questions those claims of snobbery, or being grovelling plebs kowtowing to the demands of the upper classes.

Can you do that?

Notandum: as an aside, I was in London recently and these buses are so cheaply made I could barely get my legs in and had to perform advanced yoga just to sit down.

Looks ok to me...

In particular the bit starting at 5.39- in which they said that the batteries were removed from the vehicles and many were damaged...

(and using tony the rabid frothing at the mouth antiEV'er as a source is hilarious....)

And if you want to see him in full rant (not surprising, he is an antivaxxer to boot) this is quite short for him, only 8 minutes long lol...

Either she's 8' tall with very long thighs or she was lying about the legroom. I'm 6'2" tall and have been on all manner of UK buses with no problems with leg room. Cheap airline flights are a different matter.

PRESS RELEASE

From: 10 Downing Street

SUBJECT: The Fire at Luton Airport Car Park

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dear British voter

Rishi here. Just to reassure you that I am continuing to deliver on my priorities. You may be wondering why we have not yet released the specific details of the vehicle that caused the Luton Airport car park fire. This is because it would be most unfair to pinpoint a Jaguar Land Rover vehicle as the culprit before the investigation is complete. But it was definitely a diesel-fuelled car. That is all you need to know.

From a recent clip of my good self at a petrol station, wherein I do not appear to know where to stick the nozzle or how to undo the cap of the Kia, nor have a clue how to pay for it with my credit card, I do have a fleet of top range JLR Land Rovers and RAF and private helicopters to chauffeur me to places. As you know, I was parachuted into No.10 by my Etonian friend, David Cameron, who was introduced to me by my wife’s good friend, PM Narendra Modi in India, as her father owns Infosys and knows the awfully nice Mr. Tata. In fairness to Mr. Tata, we cannot allow idle gossip about JLR. David is from the same Bullingdon Club as my predecessor, whose name shall not pass my lips, but whom you know you can trust. Suffice to say, I urge you not to trust anyone from the working class in this matter, shortens their name or fails to smarten up when addressing the public.

Keep on doffing the cap and tugging the forelock, as it were, fnarr fnarr, I said foreLOCK, ooh, Matron! and I’ll keep on delivering.

Your obedient servant

Rishi Sunak
Prime Minister

That's a checked and verified source?

I suppose that sort of stuff must have some niche demographic slapping their knees to indicate they recognise it was a joke they ought to like. Can't for the life of me imagine who they are though.

Why is it whenever someone points out that your attempted sources do not have the expertise they would require for their opinion to be granted the weight you would want, its snobbery?

Vixen, this is a very genuine and serious question so don't bluster past it or ignore it. Do you think expertise exists? That is, do you think that actual study into an area and/or subsequent practise in a specific field such as engineering makes someone more adept than a person who does not have said background but works in an adjacent field?

To give an example, do you think that an accident investigator and engineer has more knowledge on the subject of the aftermath of a shipwreck than say, a commercial ship captain that otherwise does not have any education or experience in engineering or accident investigation, or do you think they're basically at the same level of knowledge?

Also you do realise that the idea that the British defer to the upper class is laughably inaccurate right?

I'm sure there are those like that but I've never met one and I lived most of my life in one of the most rural parts of the shires.

Please cut out the snobbery.

Being properly qualified and experienced is not snobbery. Requiring that people whose judgment we are asked to trust be properly experienced is not snobbery. Vixensplaining doesn't cut it.

Who would you rather buy a car from? Someone who has been in the trade for decades or some crusty academic who hasn't picked up a spanner or got oil on his hands since college days?

I wonder who you're talking about. I'm a fully qualified and licensed engineer who has been practicing for decades, and whose professional experience includes accident investigation. How many incidents has your source investigated in which he was held legally accountable by multiple parties for the correctness of his findings?

And yes, as soon as I finished dressing you down appropriately, I'm going to pick up my spanner and go back to working on my car. Time permitting, I might spend some time this afternoon at the air museum working on their planes. In the wake of Masters of the Air, we're moving our B-17 "Short Bier" to a better viewing position and fixing some drips.

Put another way, if your home was flooded, would you want a qualified plumber to fix it...

Cute how you changed the question. We're not talking about buying a car or fixing a car. We're talking about why a car caught fire and how the car park it was in burned down.

Let's not be snobs, peeps. Shame on you, List, shame on you.

Nice try.
