Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

True, but the vast majority of the purchase price was added to the company's debt. Musk didn't need to dip too far into his own pocket.

Well $13 billion of it was added to the company’s debt.

But he could have built a decent social media platform for $31 billion. That doesn’t necessarily get you the user base, but there are enough Musk fanbois in the World, I reckon it would do ok.

X is the reset for a lot of cancelled people.
There is an adjustment in train for the sentient world.
I have no actual dog in this fight so I claim to be objective.
I will catalogue these people and exactly why they find Twitter impossible to say as a brand.
Hunting Musk down is a blood sport on this thread, beware what you wish for?!?!

You don't need to yet again tell us that you think Musk is great because he allowed Jordan B Peterson and the Nazis that share your views on some types of medical interventions for trans kids back onto X. That you believe it is an "adjustment" to allow Nazis a platform says more about yourself than anything else, which is you are fine getting into bed with Nazis.

By the way will you ever answer any questions you have been asked about your claims?

"canceled" people complain that they don't have the audience they think they deserve.

Is it a success for them when they get to tweet when no one is left on the platform to read it?

It's like demanding to take the Podium when everyone has gone home.

I mean, he might be a con artist. But if that is the case, we live in a peculiar world if you can be not very good at con artistry and still end up richest man in the world.

Again, even if I grant to you that Elon Musk is just a glorified hype guy, somehow he ended up hyping Tesla into being a game-changingly successful EV company and SpaceX into being the top rocket company in the world.

The idea that he is a failure doesn't pass the sniff test.

Yes, he has some ridiculous projects like Hyperloop, Solar City and the Boring Company. No doubt Twitter is going down the same toilet but we can't just make credulity-straining assertions that he's been a total failure and all-time worst evil person and expect them to get any traction with normal people.

i'm not sure that anyone is calling him a total failure (hoping that becomes true maybe) or all time worst evil person. i've been calling him a bad guy and a liar.

but perhaps we live in a world where if you've got a head start on normal people and are willing to do anything for money you can become the incredibly rich. i think there's been enough examples over time that success isn't always based on merit.

Look at Tesla, the only thing he's done with that company after hostilely taking it over from the actual founders is to…

It’s only fair to add the company, under his direction, is currently producing the best selling car in the world. Not the best selling EV, but the best selling car.

Seems a bit disingenuous to leave that one little bit off.

Reminds me a little of Reg asking, “What have the Romans ever done for us?”.

You mean like the pedophiles and CSAM posters he let back in?

Gibberish.

I have no actual dog in this fight so I claim to be objective.

People who have to emphatically tell you they are objective….aren’t.

More gibberish.

A bunch of posts discussing Teslas have been sent to a more appropriate thread, and some off topic posts have been consigned to the bad place.

Will you all please refrain from personalising your posts, and please stay on topic.
Replying to this modbox in thread will be off topic  Posted By: Agatha

And back in the land of Twitter... He seems to have gone a week without shooting himself in the foot.
He's back on form, this time attacking Disney head Bob Iger. Not sure how he imagines that it will lead to Disney resuming advertising on Xitter, but who knows :boggled:

Elon is holding a poll,

Reinstate Alex Jones on this platform?

Vox Populi, Vox Dei.

So far there are 1,213,671 votes. 70.1% yes to 29.9% no

8 hours left to run.

No planet X option.

I unsubscribed when he started letting avowed white nationalists back on the platform, literally inviting them to. I wonder if people like me are the reason his vote was so skewed.

Sure, create a partisan echo chamber and then think a poll means a lot.

He said any changes to twitter would only be done if there was a vote in n favour.
Any of his changes to the way it operates never got put to a vote, just things like this.

Alex Jones? Heh. Sure, reinstate him. Let's see for how much he can afford to get sued next time :p

Or how many more advertisers X loses in the process :p

1) There's a lot of idiots out there. 2) Musk started out with the thing that 99% of rich people have, rich parents.

Most of his early wealth came about while he was still flying under the radar and in situations where competitors couldn't take chances on his sheer ineptitude. But after he hostilely took over Tesla and became its very public face the cracks in the facade of his "genius" became very visible and his true nature as a get rich quick scammer became visible to anybody willing to look.

Are you going to repeat that lie every time somebody tells the truth about your fanboy obsession?

Protip: Everything Musk says is a lie. Everything that originates from one of Musk's companies is a lie. Everything said about Musk by a fanboy is a regurgitation of one of his lies.

Personal animosity aside, if my impression of the Y as the world’s best selling car was wrong, it was not coming just from Musk…
