Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Yes, he seems to be suffering from some sort of paranoia. He can't accept that he simply does not have the skills to run a social media company.
Ironically, if he had bought it and just left it alone to operate as it was, he would have made tons of money from it. But he had to get involved.

i kind of agree with them about shakespeare though, but not for the reasons you think. nobody needs to be listening to that guy thee thouing in british for 4 and a half hours. leonard dicaprio updated that in the 90s finally and at least added some american guns. cancel him, he's got to go

There seems to be a genuine anger behind his outburst. Elon usually tries to deflect with memes and a cavalier attitude but I think the unending downward spiral of Twitter under his ownership has weighed heavier on his ponderous ego than he's been letting on up until now.

Pharma grade cocaine? Works for the The Stones.

Not really. Twitter was already losing money, and was over 5 billion in debt. Which it still has to pay interest on even under Musk. That only got even worse after Musk saddled it with even more massive debt. The effect was pretty much like throwing a drowning man an anvil. To wit, IIRC it has to pay the banks about a billion a year. Even if Musk did nothing at all, it would sink and fast.

Mmm. I'm going to disagree slightly on a minor detail. I'm reasonably convinced that Twitter likely would have been going back into making a profit territory as the larger situation returned to relative normality, had Musk not gotten involved. That doesn't immediately address the debt they had built up, of course, but the company wasn't likely to be at serious risk of dying.

Yes, though, when Musk took over and saddled Twitter with that much more debt, its path to survival was largely cut off, operating as it was. Musk wasn't entirely wrong to be trying to innovate to try to find a route to survival under the circumstances, but, well, Musk's choices have greatly accelerated its demise beyond that which it would have faced because of the extra debt.

It seems like we're not really disagreeing all that much. My point was in only response to "if he had bought it and just left it alone to operate as it was." All I'm saying is that once he bought it and saddled it with a billion dollars a year in debt payments, nope, it was sinking and fast. What could happen if he hadn't bought it, well, that's a different question entirely.

Anti Vax on twitter has been overtaken by viruses don't exist and Virology is fake.

Here we have a clip where Musk is described as the greatest living American, and noting that there is no other country on this planet he could have done all this thing.
Please let this be an agreed FACT so any pile on cogently refutes that notion.

Megyn Kelly is a fan girl so let us all sneeer.

Betcha they still think that "spike protein shedding" can absolutely infect and kill people somehow, probably by devil-magic or something.

I can't imagine how many things that they believe by now which are completely self-contradictory. No doubt it was still a man-made virus, that was a) extremely lethal and designed to wipe out the world and b) cured perfectly by ivermectin which was supressed in order to c) vaccinate everyone in order to both track them and kill them and d) the virus was almost completely harmless all along and e) viruses don't even exist, can't see them f) we live in a simulation...and... *smokes dooby* ... it's all energy innit... Elon and Andrew Tate will get us out of the Matrix!!!

Here is the thing...

Unlike some people on this forum, I do genuinely believe Elon Musk has been responsible for some important or even incredible achievements. As much as it is sometimes alleged that he has no talent and no intelligence and that he is just a moron who has somehow managed to wrangle companies and engineers who do all the work and merely collects the adulation, he clearly is doing something right, and even if his skills were confined to wrangling then he's an even more impressive wrangler.

BUT...

He also clearly has an extremely petulant and needy side to him that results in all kinds of unforced errors that he then blames others for. When it comes to Twitter all of these problems have been constantly on parade for a few years now.

There's literally no reason to call that cave diver a "pedo" and he did so only because someone said something that he's presumably not used to hearing. He seems to delight in firing people and in some cases setting mobs on them on their way out the door. His bizarre championing of the worst scumbags on Twitter looked less like a principled clarion call for allowing the types of speech that we don't like to hear and more of a celebration of them. He seemed to have decided to pander to the worst people to look edgy, when most of the time it just looks pathetic.

I would have a lot more time for a reasoned defence of Elon Musk, and even would be happy to make one myself, but nobody doing so can just shove aside the fact that he is making the problems for himself and the company. If you can't admit that and just want to post endless You Tube clips of obsequious lickspittles brown-nosing the richest man in the world then it just looks like pathetic crawling. [For more on that, see Lex Fridman, who apparently can no longer meet anyone rich and famous without gushing all over them].

Stalin was a good man.Musk is a bad man.

Some nuance AWOL.

He was a murderous, authoritarian dictator, and I am sure he would not have sided with trans rights so to you that will be enough to promote him to your "good guy" list.

That's be Megyn Kelly, the homophobe, transphobe, liar and apologist for police violence?

somebody should point out that wasn't the point being made?

it's well documented musk is a liar and a cheat. angrysoba, charitably, is trying to help you out by pointing out that doesn't invalidate some of musks actual achievements. he owns a few pretty successful companies and has made more money than god doing it, fo sure. some of the worst people on the internet think musk is great, absolutely. so what? that doesn't mean much of what you admire him for is good or that he's not a huge piece of ****

Dude(s), let's return to the premise (well, rather inferrence mode) presented.

I can make a coherent case that Commodus (the bellend emperor from the movie "Gladiator") was a GREAT emperor. In fact, probably one of the greatest to have ever lived. In fact, I've partially touched on that years before. And it's only partially taking the piss. Does it mean that anyone has to take that as a "FACT", just because one unqualified dude said so?

[ ] Yes
[ ] No
[ ] Maybe
[ ] All of the above?`

:p

I want Elon to be involved in a conspiracy that needs a lengthy investigation.

I want it to be called Elongate.

Category error. This is ever-so-slightly more on target than declaring my toaster oven as a FACT.

Declaring Musk's greatness as a FACT is fanboy-ism on steroids.
