Cont: Today's Mass Shooting (part 3)

Body was found in a wooded area near Lisbon, a small town about 2-3 miles from the scene of the shootings, gunshot wound to the head.

And,in the irony department. Lebanon is the town where Stpehan King lived as a teenager and went to High School.

Well, being nit picky, "shooting" does imply a person being shot. Otherwise, a skeet competition is a mass shooting? But agreed on the larger point.

Yeah, in the context of this thread the standard meaning is multiple persons being shot, a mass killing using a firearm. I was just giving Hercules56 a little encouragement to make his stupid point. He did not disappoint.

Ok, so you're saying a mass-shooting is when more than 1 person is shot by the same shooter in the same event?

I am saying that is the standard use in this thread and I accept that, although I think it is imprecise. I am not saying that is the sole usage of the term.

In the UK, a person who went out with a gun and fired multiple shots, but hit no one, would end up in prison for a very long time and it would be headline news. The UK had a mass shooting at Monkseaton, where a man with mental health issues got hold of his father's shotgun and fired at and hit 17 people, thankfully only killing one.

In the USA, you want to discount any of that. That is a sign of how bad it is, that you want to deliberately limit what counts as a mass shooting. It is how American's cope with an incredible rate of violence, deaths and injuries.

Nonsense. And false.

Frankly I'm really not interested in what Europeans have to say about this issue. They have their own problems to worry about.
Good, because this Australian is telling you there are too many people getting shot for you to waste time arguing about language. Start getting rid of the ******* guns for ****'s sake.

We can't really talk about mass-shootings unless we come to a common understanding of what it actually means.
