Russell Brand accused of rape and sexual assault

No, where have I said he should be criminally guilty and given a custodial sentence? The **** he's said and done is enough for me to be glad he's "cancelled".

Ok, fine. Thanks for the clarification.

What's silly about all this, is that his promiscuity and behavior have been well known for a long time. But when he was in the lefty camp, it was all good. Now that he spouts opinions lefties don't like, he's going down.

Are you saying the first woman to accuse him was a ...what?....leftist plant or something? I mean, lefties like Franken and Weiner and Weinstein and Spacey go down when they are credibly accused, not when their political leanings change.

What disturbs me the most is the fact that so many people won't believe a victim unless she's gone all the way to court and won.

She, or he, should certainly go all the way to court. It's a shame that investigations and court hearings don't really guarantee the outcome desired.

I will admit to having an issue with tabloid exposé. If I've unearthed enough evidence to prove (read sell copy), judicially, that X had done Y then I'm going to the authorities, not writing a story about it first.

Perhaps that is why my investigative journalist career floundered.

To be fair, he's hilarious every time he opens his mouth and says a little tiny thing in an enormous amout of words to obfuscate and sound clever.

But that's laughing at him and not with him, the annoying **** that he is.

Particularly hilarious when he insists on (for some reason) wildly waving his arms around while saying it. However, I have yet to see any evidence of actual comedic talent. Not saying it doesn't exist, and it's obviously subjective.

I know under Murdoch it's not what it was, but I wouldn't describe the Sunday Times as tabloid, and Channel 4's Dispatches is also still fairly reputable.

You do know this is a sceptics forum right?

You do know why people don't report rape?

But most survivors don't report it to the police
5 in 6 women who are raped don’t report – and the same is true for 4 in 5 men.
Lots of these survivors tell someone else what happened. So, why don't they tell the police?
40% said ‘embarrassment’

38% said they didn’t think the police could help

34% said they thought it would be humiliating

Where did we get the data for these statistics from?
Crown Prosecution Service | Home Office | Ministry of Justice | NSPCC | Office for National Statistics | Ofsted

Well that was random.

No it wasn't. It directly refutes your implication that the skeptical thing to do (or the thing that skeptics do) is not believe a rape accusation unless the victim has gone to court and won. This information shows that it's not in line with what we know about rape.

Wow. You don't think that's relevant to the discussion? Wow.

Just wow.

Thank you.

You're essentially claiming there's a lefty conspiracy underway, involving the 4 accusers amongst others. Perhaps you or IsThisTheLife should start a thread in the CT section.

Unlike assorted notorious cases of recent times (for e.g. Savile, Weinstein, Gadd) that the media whores are trying to draw comparisons with, Brand has friends and supporters, not to mention and a wife and two daughters, so I reckon things might get ... interesting.
Yeah, like I said, Tucker Carlson, Piers Morgan, Andrew Tate, Ben Shapiro, Elon Musk, Jordan Peterson...

We are all, at this point in time, reading reports of reports of allegations. These allegations are stacking up against Brand but we must bear in mind that no charges have been made
It's not exactly a ringing endorsement when the best thing someone says about you is that what you have been doing is not technically illegal.

Charges will come. I guarantee it. I've pulled out my crystal ball and Tarot cards, and it is more or less inevitable that charges will be laid.

The UK government is actively trying to deplatform him and deny his ability to make money; though he's been convicted of no crime. What the hell did he say that the UK government is so desperate to shut him up?

Yeah, I agree.

Hate Brand but this is too much. The government should stay out of this.

I agree the government shouldn't force Rumble to demonetise Brand's videos.

It's up to Rumble to decide whether to or not, like YouTube decided.

But it's probably fair that the government asks Rumble whether Brand has prejudiced any potential court case or investigation or endangered or somehow caused a threat to the victims.
