Absence epilepsy is generally a syndrom of children and juveniles. Most outgrow it before reaching adulthood.
If McConnell has it, then he most likely would have had it since childhood - but he has been out in public so long, so often. We would have seen it many times before. So highly unlikely.
Also, IF McConnell had Absence epilepsy, that in itself would be NO indication that he is unfit for office.
It means that his brain takes a half-minute pause from time to time - and that's it! For a man whose job is 98% related to speech, and rarely time-critical or presents with imminent physical danger of accidents, that's not a problem, really. If he were a pilot, a cab driver, a surgeon, okay. But a politician? Nuhhh!
