The only problem for the latter is their targets cannot be readily identified. It's not like the "radical libs" all get "RadLib" tattoos or something. So the right-wingers simply attach the label to anyone they don't like, and bingo - instant justification for acting out their hatreds.

I agree...that's why I put single quotation marks around 'radical libs'. If some extreme right-wingers had their way, they'd probably make wearing a rainbow star a law for anyone they deem a 'radical lib'.

DeSantis continues to disprove that he is a 'smarter' Trump:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Sunday accused Trump administration agencies of “colluding” with Big Tech to bury the Hunter Biden story in 2020 and criticized the former president for not firing those involved with the alleged collusion at the time.

“I look back at the Hunter Biden censorship, which was a huge, huge deal to happen in the 2020 election, and yet those were Donald Trump’s own agencies that were colluding with Big Tech. I would never allow that to happen. I would fire those people immediately,” DeSantis told Maria Bartiromo in an interview on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
Republicans have raised concerns about alleged “collusion” between the FBI and social media companies in order to silence conservative viewpoints — which they say is particularly evident in Twitter’s initial decision in 2020 to limit the spread of a story containing contents of a laptop belonging to Hunter Biden. Twitter executives have since said their initial decision may have been flawed, but they adamantly insisted Democrats had no involvement in their decision.

DeSantis, who frequently touts his war on Big Tech in Florida, is now using the frequent Trump talking point against the former president himself — pointing out that the New York Post story was published during his presidency. We will end the weaponization of government. And that’s, of course, a new FBI director on day one,” DeSantis said, repeating a frequent pledge. “That’s a difference between me and Donald Trump. He says the jury is still out on FBI Director Wray. I think you need a new start on day one. We’re going to clean house at the Department of Justice.”
DeSantis, who has been trailing Trump in recent primary polls, continued to pitch himself as the more disciplined, results-oriented alternative to Trump, with all the same policy positions. “But here’s what it requires, Maria. For DeSantis to say "We will end the weaponization of government" is particularly loathsome considering his own weaponization of the FL government against Disney.

Let's just change the highlighted; I don't mind saying that most of what Trump is "accused" of doing in that ad is not dreadful in any way; they are some of the things he should be given credit for, particularly his response to the Pulse nightclub shooting.

As for DeSantis, he has lost me with this BS. First, nobody should be crowing about passing anti-LGBTQ legislation; that is buying the media's framing of it as essentially hateful. I had no problem with most of the laws passed, including the (original) supposed "Don't say gay," bill. But if you are going to boast that you're Mr. Anti-LGBTQ, you're playing to a very small crowd, even in GOP circles.

What I don't understand about the republicans is that they continue to denigrate the FBI, their most powerful and loyal allies in Washington. And what I don't get about the FBI is that they keep taking these kickings without "accidentally" letting slip some of the damaging material they have on the party bigwigs.

Whilst the FBI are generally aligned to the Republican Party, they aren't completely uncritical towards Trumpism and are willing to enforce the law.

The GOP would like to see this end and instead the FBI would simply become the enforcement wing of the Republican Party, unrelentingly pursuing "leftists" for crimes both real and imagined whilst turning a blind eye to any indiscretions from right wingers.

I think it's because they are somewhat law-abiding and are loyal to the GOP.
