Cont: Transwomen are not women - part XI

Uh... what? You said it was bigotry, now you're saying it's not bigotry? I'm confused. I can't tell if you're making typos, being inconsistent, or what, but I can't make sense of what you're saying.

The question in the thread title is “Bigotry for lesbians to reject transwomen?” I answered that, and the answer to that is, yes it is bigotry. But rejecting anyone for sex because you are not attracted to them is not bigotry. However some people are bigots when it comes to who they will have sex with, Turkeysghost mentioned this.

Is it bigoted for a lesbian or straight man to reject the sexual advances of transwomen, and reject the idea of dating transwomen, due to the belief that they are in fact not really women?

I think its absurd to accuse straight men or lesbian women of bigotry, because they refuse to date transwomen.

The life of Lesbians is hard enough as it is, the last thing they need is to now be told that they must accept transgender women as women, otherwise they are bigots.

Last thing lesbians probably need is a man telling them who to date or claim to read their minds.

Care providing proof of this mindreading?

Also funny goalpost swapping here too - can't really help it can you?

Let's try again.

Darat, is it bigotry for a lesbian to reject ALL transwomen for sex?

Is it bigotry for a lesbian to reject ALL transwomen for a date?

The question is, would it be appropriate for the lesbian to tell the transwoman that she is being rejected due to her being trans, and then the transwoman calling her a bigot.

Some people here seem to think its bigotry for a lesbian to reject all transwomen. Which I guess also means its bigotry for straight guys to reject transwomen.

Which hopefully the lesbian will retort with - “no it’s because you’re a jerk as you’ve just demonstrated”

Yikes. Not at all appropriate.

"I don't want to date you because you're <fat|tall|short|have big ears>"

That's super rude and not necessary.

Who seems to think that?

Glad we agree that only an ass would call someone a "bigot", for rejecting all transwomen for a date or sex.

I don't see what distinction you're making between these two scenarios. Obviously you think there is an important distinction, but I have no idea what it is.

Yes let's all pretend we've never encountered or heard of the concept of "letting someone down easy."

One is a choice. The other is a bodily reaction.

This is absolutely wrong. Both questions as stated can be a matter of choice. Both questions as stated can involve bodily reaction. If that's the distinction that Darat is drawing, then it's based on a false premise.

So you DO think its bigotry to reject all transwomen for a date?

Sexual attraction is not something you choose. If you are not attracted to someone, you aren't attracted to them. It has nothing to do with bigotry.

Rejecting someone as an employee, renter, friend, etc, because they are trans is a choice and is bigotry.

You don't seem to understand how humans work.

Yes, that's why we are talking about dating partners, not co-workers and employees. Its absurd to call someone a bigot just because they wont date a transgender person.

Is it bigotry for a lesbian to reject ALL transwomen for a date?

So a different question to the thread title.

Nope, no more than it is for them to reject all men.

However if their rejection is based not being attracted or to an individual but because they think trans women are disgusting, or some other moral judgement then it could be that they are rejecting someone for sex because they are a bigot.

Sadly I’ve know people to use “race”, religion and nationality as a reason to reject someone because of their bigotry for a particular race, religion or nationality.

I’ve known quite a few lesbians who are very bigoted about men, but that isn’t the reason they reject sex with a man, that’s because they don’t find men attractive.

As ever human interactions are complex, there are no hard lines and there are no simple equations or logic trees that covers that complexity.
