It is pretty impressive, in a horrible sort of way, how absolutely obsessed the reactionary right has become about this subject.

I would guess the general American public is pretty ambivalent about the issue of trans rights, and probably even skews quite a bit conservative on the issue, but this obsession about trans people by the right seems likely to be more off-putting than galvanizing. These weird freaks just can't help themselves, it's like their maximalist position on anti-abortion all over again.

Nope. Not my claim at all.

My question is if its bigotry for a Lesbian to reject all transwomen, for dating purposes. Some here seem to think it is.

By that logic I guess some folks here believe its bigotry for a straight guy to refuse to date transwomen, as well.

Uh... what? You said it was bigotry, now you're saying it's not bigotry? I'm confused. I can't tell if you're making typos, being inconsistent, or what, but I can't make sense of what you're saying.

Is that the distinction you're making?

Are you saying that it would not be bigotry to not want to have sex with them, but it would be bigotry to not want to date them?

If so, why? Seems like the purpose of dating for a lot of people is to identify a compatible sexual partner.

The question is, would it be appropriate for the lesbian to tell the transwoman that she is being rejected due to her being trans, and then the transwoman calling her a bigot.

Some people here seem to think its bigotry for a lesbian to reject all transwomen. Which I guess also means its bigotry for straight guys to reject transwomen.

Well, yes. Sometimes, males who are denied sex they feel entitled to resort to violence to obtain it. That holds true whether those males are ordinary men or transwomen.
