Elon Musk announces he has found new Twitter CEO

The current owner did not reveal the identity of the person, divulging only that she would start in six weeks’ time

Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk, said on Thursday that he has found a new chief executive for the social media platform and that she will be starting in about six weeks.

“My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops,” Musk said in a tweet.

What could possibly go wrong with the owner being the CTO, and with his well known love of meddling in engineering decisions, especially software engineering?

He will still be "exec chair" - all he means is that he's found some frontperson to take the flack for his crap.

Ah so he's hired a head of sales.

Probably the right choice. I don't know anything about this person specifically but a advertising sales exec sounds right. Twitter is first and foremost a company that makes money off selling advertising.

I imagine a person with experience in sales fully understands just how bad the recent changes to Twitter have been to that core business model.

It remains to be seen if Elon can manage to get out of his own way to try to return this business to something approaching a workable business model.

Given that fixing things would require reversing many of his most notable and publicized changes, I imagine that any new CEO won't be truly granted the freedom needed to try to save this disaster.

All of Elon's right wing buddies love that he's their #1 customer complaint contact for when Twitter isn't boosting their content appropriately, and they'll absolutely turn on them if he tries to abandon this post. Elon's made a deal with the devil and they won't forgive him if he tries to back out.

Elon famously can't code for ****. I feel bad for any actual software engineers who will have to work under his guidance, assuming he's serious about focusing on leading the technical side of things.

I'm sure his approach of looking at how many lines of code Twitter's coders had written and keeping those who had written the mode was both the obvious and best way of choosing the most productive coders, and there's no chance that inefficient bloated code would be produced compared to slim, more maintainable code.

LOL!

BREAKING: Twitter's new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, is currently the Executive Chair for the World Economic Forum, and was Chairman of Advertising at NBC Universal.

And more LOL!

I don't understand any of this, but will wait for
@elonmusk
to clarify. Will also watch for changes in Twitter that might suggest a return to liberal favoritism. My $8.00 isn't much, but it is spent in good faith for free speech.

And the LOLs keep LOLLing in....

its simple: the WEF are the bad guys. and Elon is about to hand them Twitter

So the signing on the Tucker thing was to what, throw us all off?

I will keep my $8.00 if she is the CEO. No WEF for me

Elon Musk is one of them

Elon Musk is trying to assuage Luke Rudkowski. Remember him? The guy from We Are Change, the 9.11 Truther site.

And I'm sure she will have retrospective responsibility for everything he ***** up.

Sweepstake - just over a year.

Not convinced Twitter will last a whole year. Apparently, when he took over, Musk found out that Twitter had $13 billion of debt with very little chance of being able to service it.

Yaccarino is likely to be the Dmitry Medvedev of Twitter.
