Closing arguments are being made on Tuesday.

Proud boys and oath keepers - another two groups that Trump destroyed. He will probably go down in right-wing CT history as a Deep State agent.
 
It doesn't seem that type of group is really that far off of taking radical action even without a guise of protection and power backing like chump offered.

He encouraged and enabled them to act of course. Then threw them in front of the bus when it failed.

I watch a lot of YT and there is a good percentage of US citizens that fear something and arm themselves at all times against it. Words like 'I always try to keep my right hand free, because you never know..." or not too subtle words saying that all our freedoms are under fire, all the time are common from even well off YT creators.
Indicating freedoms they appreciate most may not be things they can talk about on that platform.
It's fun to watch them struggle to be vanilla enough to keep the video up sometimes.

Checks and balances are in place to let them be them, and not harm the rest who aren't them. This trial and others coming up will set boundaries for a long time to come.
 
They're blaming it on Trump.

Defense attorneys say there was no conspiracy and no plan to attack the Capitol. They’ve sought to portray the Proud Boys as an unorganized drinking club whose members’ participation in the riot was a spontaneous act fueled by Trump’s election rage.

A lawyer for Tarrio sought to push the blame onto Trump in his closing argument, telling jurors on Tuesday that the Justice Department is making Tarrio a scapegoat for the former president.

Defense lawyer Nayib Hassan noted Tarrio wasn’t in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021, having been banned from the capital after being arrested on allegations that he defaced a Black Lives Matter banner. Trump, Hassan argued, was the one to blame for extorting a crowd outside the White House to “ fight like hell.”

“It was Donald Trump’s words. It was his motivation. It was his anger that caused what occurred on January 6th in your beautiful and amazing city,” Hassan told jurors. “It was not Enrique Tarrio. They want to use Enrique Tarrio as a scapegoat for Donald J. Trump and those in power.”

I'm still wondering when they'll realise that Trump has bilked his supporters out of millions of dollars, and not even lifted a finger to help them...
