Ye likes Hitler

I read his bio. That doesn't make him particularly knowledgeable on 20th century history and politics. However I'm surprised that he seems to have gotten nothing from his parents on the subject. They would seem to be well acquainted with the forms and means of oppression throughout history. That West would latch onto what is basically Christian Nationalism, which is the antithesis of what his parents stand for, indicates recalcitrance, brainwashing, or extreme ignorance.

And yes, this ties to his untreated mental illnesses.
Don't forget that there are some people who, for whatever reason, reject things they are told by people who do know what they're saying. Some smart parents have fools for children. The country is full of them, after all, convinced that Trump is Jesus and shooting their kids up with ivermectin. They're not uninformed. They're stupid.

So we're in agreement that it's not necessarily because he's "dumb as a post when it comes to 20th century history and politics" but because his mental illness affects the way he interprets those events. His thinking is not rational.

In fairness, I've never heard an intelligent word come out of his mouth, but I've lost track of the painfully stupid things.
