I think the voters are kind of bored by Biden by now. And I think he would run a poor campaign against De Santis. He was all fired up by Trump. Now he is seen as bureaucrat. Something like a school principal.

Democrats have a tough decision. If you start pushing another candidate, the current one looks like a loser. And you lose votes no matter what. Yet there is no way to add much excitement to Biden at this point. The Hunter Biden laptop committee needs to be ridiculed quite early with their task. We don't want "but his laptop" hanging around as a message to 2024.

When it comes to the information available, there do seem to be no credible claims that the laptop's fake and credible claims that it actually was Hunter's, sure. There was initial doubt about its reality, of course, given the Republican clown show surrounding it, which gave rise to very real uncertainty about how much fiction is involved. As for altered, on the other hand - at last check, the current state of things was that some specific things on it have indeed been verified, but not any of the potentially more problematic stuff and that, given the evidence at hand about multiple rounds of later alterations in at least some files, it's impossible to validly claim that the laptop is unaltered. Rather, it seems far more true to say that the extent of alteration is largely unverifiable. It's certainly possible that the FBI may be working to investigate further based on potential leads from the laptop, but that's far cry from it being fully validated.

I agree that while the emails are validated, they might be just Hunter boasting of his Dad's involvement, banking on his last name for $$$, ie, lying about it. ( all the tabloid-y sex and drug stuff can be ignored). Or that some of it came as Joe had already left the VP office, so no power connection.

However, we have Joe claiming that he has a close relationship with Hunter, we know he took him on AF2 to China for a business trip while VP, and it is confirmed that Joe met with some of these foreign business partners outside and inside at the White House on a few occasions.
We also have Joe claiming he never discussed his son's business deals with him.

It's not too hard to understand that that put him into a delicate position. As far as the evidence that I've seen goes, though, I haven't seen anything that would actually indicate that Joe actually did anything corrupt.

To poke at your examples there more directly - taking his son with him and helping him make contacts is a grey area, certainly, even if it could somehow be justified in the specific context, and could easily be used to facilitate corruption for those so inclined, but is not even remotely proof of wrongdoing by anyone involved itself. This kind of thing happens every day in politics and business. It certainly is unfair to those without the connections. Look at Hollywood. Children of famous actors, directors and producers have a leg up on Joe Schmoe. But I see nothing illegal.

We do know that the freakiest of the freaky GOPers have had access to the laptop content for three years and have yet to come up with anything solid on President Biden despite having every reason to do so. That fact alone should tell you how surprising the hearings will be...

As a sitting president, he is protected from a full criminal case, which he should not go through anyway as his mental state is in serious decline.

He wont run again - I am 100% sure of it - and I'm beginning to think they (democrats) are actually trying to have him resign. They are just going after him too hard.
Expect a new slant to a negative story every day, and CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS will run it. That is how you will know. They wont bury it or 'nothingburger' it.

It's at this point I say who cares? There is allegedly a lot of crap on that laptop about Hunter and nothing that includes evidence Biden was involved other than to not abandon his addicted son.

Why the FBI has held onto the actual laptop is an unknown.
