The statement by the YMCA was ridiculous. They apologised to the under age girl, but reiterated that intact men who claim to be woman can use the women’s locker room. They better keep that apology close at hand because it would not surprise to see more self ID’d transwomen taking the opportunity to upset young women.

Might as well get rid of women's locker rooms, then. It would be safer than pretending that you're giving them a women's only space, that has no restrictions whatsoever.

I have to agree with Rolfe, they're just telling women to suck it up and keep their mouths shut. Unbelievable.

A 17 year old girl after showering at a YMCA encountered a naked adult male in the locker room, hid in the showers in fear and then reported the incident.

Truth is, it is the CA law at fault. I doubt the YMCA would have chosen to allow it. But if you defy, you pay a big price. So far no one has stepped up to take on a law suit.

What to tell the children, like my 11yo daughter and her teammates who uses the showers after swim practice? Adult women use it too as it's a city facility.

She knows that a naked man exposing himself outside this space is illegal and meant to scare her. I tell her "Please run away and report it to an adult so he can be arrested".

But...in this space, these showers and lockers, I should say "a male exposing himself might be ok because he might be actually a woman. So please don't upset this person."

How will these young girls know when it's ok to be calmly inclusive and welcoming of the adult male bodied person, and when to be cautious and report it? Even the adults don't know.

Either way, they aren't going to shower there if it happens!!

Seems to be faster than yesterday. When I looked just after ten it was up by a couple of hundred over last night.

Meanwhile the Dangerous Dogs Act one made it late last night. I recognise there may be people signing that because they're fans of pit bull terriers, but I was horrified when that bill first came in that they were outlawing actual breeds of dog rather than addressing behaviour and I think it's wrong in principle. And since most of the problem dogs that come up don't have pedigrees from the Kennel Club, it all gets extremely murky. Interestingly, although signatures are very even geographically on that one, there is a hot-spot in south-west Wales.

It makes you normal.

In that sense it's a symmetrical situation, but in other senses it isn't. As someone else put it, men are afraid women might laugh at them: women are afraid men might kill them.

You feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. And that on its own should entitle you to a single-sex space. We feel uncomfortable and embarrassed and scared and violated. You have no fear that a woman in your space is going to attack you (sexually or otherwise), or hide a camera to film you undressed and post that on PornHub, and she's probably not going to flash you either. Women also take up a lot less space - physically and figuratively - than men. Manspreading is a thing, men physically trying to occupy and dominate as much of the space they are in as they can. Women don't do this.

But normal men, with the regular amount of modesty and sensitivity issued to members of the human race, understand at least to some extent how women feel. Which makes it quite striking just how many men there are out there loudly giving away women's property to the trans ladies, because the sacred oppressed marginalised (manspreading, space-occupying) trans ladies are obviously the important people.

One example would be the pushback against the idea that biological sex is a social construct now that the conversation has moved on to who really cares about the whole gender idea anymore.

Another example would be the pushback against the insistence that areas traditionally segregated by biological sex should be opened to all based on gender identity.

One more would be....If you laughed at, or thought this video was misogynistic then you might just be an oppressor.

I think it's time for some university to go completely gender neutral. Everything, bathrooms, locker rooms, sports teams, living arrangements.... Just to see what would happen.
