Transwomen are not women - X (XY?)

I don't understand why it should make any difference whatsoever whether any given transwoman has facial features that are more "masculine" or "feminine". Neither do I understand why it should make any difference whatsoever whether any given transwoman was or was not perceived as "female" when their gender matched their birth sex.

Do these issues have relevance for some observers? If so, why?

This is supposed to be celebrating the advancement of females into the realm of science - a field that continues to be strongly male dominated.

Gee, I wonder why the fact that the person being applauded on this one day a year is male might make a difference?

"On this singular day of celebration for females in science, we have chosen to honor a male!" What message do you think that sends?

You're saying..... that in your judgement as to whether or not it was "appropriate" for DSTL to put this transwoman forward.....

......your assessment that she has certain features that are more often associated with masculinity means that..... this makes it inappropriate that she was put forward for recognition?

Have I described your position correctly. I think I have, but I'm rather incredulous so I wanted to double-check.

That fact that they are male makes it inappropriate. The fact that they are obviously and unquestionably male makes it offensive.

I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly . . . . It looks to me as if every single reply to the tweet is highly critical of the action in question. Is that right? I might not have scrolled all of them. Seems very odd but I'm not too familiar with twitter and the dynamics of pile-ons and suchlike.

Generally speaking, if a post on twitter has a high number of views and a high number of likes, it indicates agreement. When post has a high number of views and a very low number of likes relative to it, that indicates general disagreement.

When a post is closed to public comment, and it has more quote tweets than likes, it is a clear indication of strong disagreement.

As of a moment ago, this one has 427,000 views. It has only 274 likes. It has 505 quote tweets, and the handful of responding tweets (likely prior to it being closed to public comment) were overwhelmingly opposed.

So yeah - it has garnered intense dislike.

I saw one supportive one, but that's what it looks like to me also.

I noticed they have now blocked replies. I've seen this happen many times. Obviously they were expecting a different reaction.
