A few questions:

- About the Trump reinstatement poll, how would a user know that this poll even existed? Would you need to be a follower of Musk's account? What are the demographics there I wonder? Or does the poll show up on every page to all users? Not that I really give a crap, but I'm wondering because...

- Wasn't Trump being kicked off Twitter what got Elon interested in Twitter in the first place? I believe he meant to reinstate Trump all along. He was complaining about free speech at the time.

But then again I can't figure out Musk's politics, or much of what he is doing right now. He seems very unstable.

My friend quit working at Tesla a few months ago and I'm very glad he did. He was stressed to the point that I was very worried about his mental health. Now he works for a smaller company founded by people who left Tesla :)

ETA:

One more question. I saw a news article that had Twitter feeds embedded but there was an error message and they were not displayed. Will news sites be able to embed these still if Musk makes it pay only? I'm cool if they can't :)

I actually don't see many Tweets in news stories these days, so maybe it isn't common anymore? I'd love to see Twitter die simply because from the moment I first heard of them I hated the names "Twitter" and Tweets". I remember thinking "no way this company survives". :)

I don't see a problem with this. I am so tired of every place needing to be a "safe space". When I try to comment on a certain outlet, even the most mundane speech is sometimes censored. I hate it.

Maybe he should pull an UNO reverse card, and start silencing high-profile leftists. Then there will really be an uproar. (I'm not really for this, but the outrage would be fun to observe)

At last check, there have been "leftists" of note who have been silenced without so much as reason given long before Musk took over.

Your "Then there will really be an uproar" is worthy of little more than an eyeroll. It's also a craven, ignorant attempt to play 'pretend that these false premises are true to justify actually unjustifiable behavior.'

How is it not amusing? Its a Tesla, in SPAAAAACCE. You know those things are normally earth-bound, right?

Either you really don't have a sense of humor, or you are letting your (justified) dislike of Musk cloud your evaluation of the situation.

They needed a simulated payload for a test rocket launch. I have no idea what NASA would normally use for ballast but probably something mundane (like plain hunks of steel.) But thanks to Musk there is a Tesla orbiting the sun (complete with a dummy dressed in a space suit.)

I also found it funny when NASA called their new treadmill on the space station the COLBERT (Combined Operational Load-Bearing External Resistance Treadmill) named after TV host Steven Colbert.

Space exploration is serious (and risky) business. If people can find a way to lighten the mood in some safe, innocuous way, great.

A lot of the issues were discussed here (Musk firing/rehiring people, advertisers abandoning the platform, more hate speech). But they brought something I was unaware of... (I haven't seen it mentioned here).

A few years ago, Twitter had a breech of its system. Twitter was sued by the FTC came to an agreement to enter a "dissent decree" (which requires regular reporting of activities). It is possible that all the changes that Musk is making might be causing Twitter to violate the dissent decree. This could result in huge fines.

As others have pointed out, it wasn’t his Tesla. It was one earmarked for the company cofounder, which Musk commandeered largely (solely?) to insult its intended recipient. It was a big middle finger.

Space is a natural environment that belongs to all humanity, including future generations.

Space is not a place to advertise cars or any other product. It is also not a landfill for people to leave junk orbiting the sun for thousands of years.

It was a mean-spirited stunt. Elon only knows how to punch down. If it was a “joke”, I’m not laughing either.

See, this is funny! It is a silly acronym for a rather innocuous piece of equipment that is vital to the health of astronauts. And it is named for Stephen Colbert who (in my view) has done much good for humanity and is deserving of this honorific. More COLBERTs in more space stations, please!

I'm not even sure what that means. But, ok. Whatever. The point is, that car was Musk's to do whatever he wanted with it. And it has nothing to do with his Twitter acquisition, obviously.

Sorry, not that humorous to me. For reference, I was mildly amused by "Elvis' Pink Cadillac in Space" as a kid in a game (or couple), but for reasons that had far more to do with Elvis having been abducted by aliens and pink car. I'm also rather amused by Space Core, which your SPAAAAAACCE immediately reminds me about, but that has everything to do with its monologue. A random Tesla in space? Boring. That's even without the Musk being a POS angle.

Personally, I think neither. If it were a solar car, there would at least be room to treat it as a joke, albeit terrible one, like him carrying the sink into Twitter. If you wanted a random fun reference, a tea cup would be soooo much better.
