The Bible is a Human Artifice!!!

rive, rift, Rivendell (a valley/vale/dale/dell/gorge/canyon deeply cut into the land as if the land split open)
cleave, cleft, cloven
drive, drift, driven
bereave, bereft (but not grieve, grift!)
thieve, theft
sieve, sift
heave, heft
weave, weft
You forgot "woven"! :jaw-dropp

Hmm, just another BSR in the end, then.
I had to check to find out what a "BSR" is.

Leumas did say there was more coming but not say how soon, and I haven't answered Leumas's last post quoting me, so I guess if just not posting anymore is to be equated with running away then I could also be said to have run away. Really, I just saw that the latest post was not an attempt to defend (or even complete) Leumas's original argument, but a shift to a different batch of arguments, and I just didn't feel like bothering with the new stuff.

I'm thinking he reread his OP while preparing to repost it for the 473rd time and had an unexpected penny-drop moment.

As soon as you answer the multiple questions that were in reply to your posts.

And I did not say there was more coming... I said that the rest of the stuff of your post that I did not reply to is immaterial for that time... as I was replying to the parts of it I thought were more important.

So I did reply to your posts.... now I am waiting for the answers to those questions in the replies to your posts.

And I am still waiting for you to answer all the questions I posed which are right to the crux of the arguments you were putting... and since you did not answer I took it as you giving up.

Go read this post... and this one... and this one... and this one... for you to see how your highlighted statement above is clearly not true.

Those 4 posts were a direct response to your posts and in them multiple questions to induce you to think about the errors in your posts to which I was replying.

I am especially waiting for your response to this one... and this one... notice how they are a direct response to your posts... and of course the other two too.

By the way... thanks for helping in explaining English vocabulary to the ones who cannot use dictionaries.... but I also appreciated the extended elucidation of the related vocabulary... that was quite edifying.

I wish you could also edify on how to read stuff properly and admit errors when one makes them.

:dl:

I think you need to watch that movie CAREFULLY and try to figure out what the characters in it are, that your statement is citing..

But yes... with this kind of logic

That would appear to be a case for the bible being a work of fiction, as I think almost everyone here would agree, but can you explain which part shows that the fiction could not have been authored by an omnipotent deity?

There is nothing left to say....:yikes: :boxedin: :hb: :bwall

Did you understand the question?

Yes I did... because I can read English prose properly and I can comprehend what I read properly... and my English vocabulary is adequate and the words I do not know, I know how to look them up.

And I know how to reason rationally.... and the question is irrational.... maybe you'd care to show me how it is rational???

Ah... and by the way... if you show me and you are right ... I will admit I am wrong as all rational honest intellectuals do.

Alas, I was mistaken, and now the gods will punish me for my hubris.

Leumas, I was wrong to imply that you ran away, you just took a week off from this thread. Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa, ignosce me!

Now, in order to get us back on track, might I make a request of you? Would you please lay out whatever it is you are trying to argue here in simple language that a simple man, such as myself, may comprehend. I beg of you, lay aside your thesaurus, forego the smilies and just make your argument.

Junkshop, can you reword that with a few ten dollar words for the educated among us?

Sorry, I spent so long editing that post that I can't remember what it said when you replied to it.

If I'm honest, I'm not entirely sure what it's saying now. There may have been a snarky subtext at some point, but I moved that into the text, then thought better of it and got rid altogether. I fear there may be lingering traces, but the whole thing is such a mess that I realy can't tell anymore.

So it goes.

That's cool, this trainwreck is..... interesting at best.
I just can't imagine what the issue is when most of us agree, without his verbose reasoning required.

Leumas would like that agreement to be worded in a very specific way. Until that happens the thesaurus will continue to get a good workout.

Unfortunately the 5 minute argument would have sufficed but Leumas is insisting on the full half hour.

What logical problem do you see here? You appear to think it impossible for anyone to author a work of fiction about themselves. Is that it?

So... let me see if I got this right...

Are you arguing that YHWH is a real omnipotent deity who authored a book of fiction about himself giving this fictive book he wrote to a fictional Moses to give to fictional 2.5M+ people after a fictional trek across a desert as fictional run away salves from a fictional slavery they fictionally underwent for 430 years as descendants of a fictional Sumerian pimp who fictionally went about pimping his fictional half-sister-wife???

So YHWH is like Emily Brontë???

Don't think he's arguing anything. I'm pretty sure he's just asking if you can "explain which part shows that the fiction could not have been authored by an omnipotent deity?"

Can you answer that question?

Ah well then... QED!!!

Already done...

Hint: read the OP and my numerous posts in this thread

which part shows that the fiction could not have been authored by an omnipotent deity?"

Do you maintain that YHWH is real and exists and is a TRICKSTER DASTARD of an omnipotent deity???

So... let me see if I got this right...

Are you arguing that YHWH is a real omnipotent deity ...

No.

I want you to indicate which part of your argument proves the author could not have been an omnipotent deity. You may imagine the answer lies hidden somewhere within a hundred previous posts but this does not appear to be the case. Your arguments seem only to indicate the bible is fiction, which is a different point from the one you contend to prove.

Here we have a story about a large cast of characters, one of whom is acclaimed as the author of the story. If you can prove large parts of the story are untrue, does that prove the claimed author is not the author? No. It might show that the story's description of how the book came to be written isn't true, but that is not the point at issue.
