• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

kurious_kathy explain this.

Try holding your breath. I'm sure this will ensure you get a prompt answer!

I've never got an answer to any of my questions so why the hell should you? ;)

And when held to questions asked she claims it's a power struggle and that I am controlling.

I
do not feel the need to answer this question or even try to justify why God allows anything. I myself am a New Testement Believer.
Many here get so hung up on Old Testament philosophy they miss the whole point. And I'm not stating there aren't things to learn from the Old Testament.. many lessons in the word of God for those who are spirit filled.
You might be interested in looking up some of Ray Vander Lann's work that is excellent. He's a historian and Bible teacher that I think is very good.

So got changed his mind?

Or just got fed up with the whole lot of us, and figured his son could teach the class?

You just can't resist trying to make me look bad can you? If I am doing something I should not do...I will learn not to.

Stop playing dumb. It's perfectly clear that you have plagiarized, no less than three times, copyrighted text from Jon Courson's site and passed it off as your own.

You do that yourself. You have shown yourself to be a liar and a plaigarist.

Don't play dumb. You know what plaigarism is.

Pedant. I was asking how kathy was going to justify God's decision to do so, not advocating the raping and killing of innocents.

I know that.
Just making a point about a pet peeve of mine, namely the overuse of the word innocent in many similar contexts; after all, to the best of my knowledge none of us are ever really innocent. Something about original sin and all that?

Point taken ;)

I'm not talking about the contemporary Jewish view on promiscuity.
I challenged you to show that Jewish male promiscuity was frowned upon by God/Jewish law in the context of the OT.

OK, this is the last I'll say on the topic (since it really is off-topic). First, I don't know that the Talmud is considered "contemporary." Second, the laws in the Talmud are based on the Torah, so obviously others have read the Torah (in its entirety) and come to a different conclusion than you came to.

I don't see where you have done that.. Your best shot seems to be talking about prostitutes. At least that seems to be the consensus of most scholars.

I'm really not arguing that one or the other is correct. I'm only arguing that you cannot provide compelling evidence of the following:

An important point here, is that contrary to popular ( or unpopular, depending on your perspective ) belief, God had no problem with married Jewish men getting all the strange they could manage ( via rape or otherwise ) , as long as it was not with a married ( to someone else ) Jewish woman.

There is certainly plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Why do I suspect, if I came to you with an opinion of a Bible verse, which all the mainstream translations disagreed with, you'd be all over me..

Whether or not I'd "be all over you" if you came up with an opinion that differed from the "mainstream" translations depends on what you were trying to prove with your opinion. In my case, I'm simply demonstrating that not only have you not presented evidence to prove your statement above, but there is evidence (mainstream or otherwise) against it.

You really need to come up with something else or give this one up..

Since you made the statement, the burden of proof would be on you, not me.

So that's four times she's been asked. Thanks, Kmortis and Elind.

(should we start a pool? I want the 12th of Never; here's $5.)

Bri, I like you. Don't always agree with you, but I like you.

I'm sorry Kathy is acting this way and making you look bad. I hope you'll stick around.

I'll second this Bri. I hope you stick around also. You're pretty cool :)

Roadtoad and fowlsound, the feeling is mutual. But I doubt that Kathy is making me look bad any more than she's making either of you look bad! I've never agreed with her, and she tends to make those who oppose her views look good in comparison.

....
There is certainly plenty of evidence to the contrary.
............

Then you should have no problem producing some of that evidence.. ( From the OT, since that was the basis of my statement )

Since you made the statement, the burden of proof would be on you, not me.

Sorry , I can't prove a negative. But you should know that..

I works like this...

I said: ' There is nothing ( the negative ) in the OT that shows God had a problem with promiscuous Israelite men.."

You said " It was frowned upon. "

The burden would be for you to show that it was frowned upon..

I cannot show you verses that don't exist...

I third that--anybody willing to actually answer a question and discuss the matter rationally gets major props, even if I don't neccessarily agree with t'answers.

When my marriage was turned around is when I started believing God's word is true. He made me see the truth in His word...and he gave me the ability and strength to turn back around and get on a better path.
Wide is the path that leads to destruction....narrow is the path that leads us home! I personally care about where I will spend eternity.

And, since you didn't actually answer or address my question in any way, I ask again. Why does it matter if you have sex before you are married?

</p>excellant, so does this mean taht you may now open your eyes to the overwhelming evidence for evolution?or support gay rights?Afterall, opposition to those things are just "so old testiment".Or do you gte to interprit which bits of teh OT are relliavnt for today, and which bits arn't?
