I'm twitter-adverse, my twitternouns are "**** twitter" and "****** twitter". How do you go about finding something like that out on twitter?
The Kathy Burke I thought it might be is certainly not shy of using the c-word.
I don't have twitter, I simply clicked on the link in the post and then the avatar of the poster of the tweet. After that I'm encouraged to sign up and that's not going to happen as my twitternouns match yours exactly.
It turns out*, though, that it may well be that Kathy Burke, so I stand corrected!
* I googled her name and the tweets came up.

You can actually bypass that by clicking log in when that screen pops up then shutting down the actual log in screen right after that. If Twitter prompts you to log in again then simply repeat the process for hours of Twitter scrolling fun without an account.

I did, actually but there's no point in denying yourself a whole thread of people proudly describing themselves as woke to put to rest the argument that woke is only used as a pejorative. I'm not sure whether this is a woke renaissance, a reclamation of the word, if you will, or the idea that woke is only used as a slur is complete and utter horse hockey.
It's when you actually start Tweeting yourself, that's when the alarm bells should start going off however a fake identity where you tweet out outrageous comments in hopes of getting quoted in the media could prove to be an interesting diversion.

Wow, that is pushing it! The mentioned post says how one organization is planning to retire the term "brown bag lunch" because "it can have negative connotations for people of color."
It's tough to know where to draw the line, but in my opinion this has crossed it. We can't simply remove every reference to various colours in English just because someone, somewhere night be offended. What about brown bean/sugar/rice/eggs/gravy/mushrooms/pasta, brown leather shoes, brown hair, brownies, brown bottles, brown bats, and Charlie Brown? Resistor colour codes?
If people used the term "woke" to describe outlandish stuff like this, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Unfortunately a lot of people use "woke" to describe things that in my opinion are simply courteous or are trying to draw attention to systemic discrimination.

Exactly. Once the word started to be used to refer to the former, it became more or less useless at referring to the latter.
Any evidence that this is being done to be "woke"? Can't see how this is any different than using the classic phrase "political correctness", it seems to me you are using it to "virtue signal".

The highlighted describe the actual colour (or a surname) the "Brown Bag Lunch" doesn't actually refer to the colour of the lunch bag (though I guess it might in some cases) So can easily be renamed. Personally, I'd recommend organising the employees' times such that they did't have to do any work/meetings at all over lunch, but there you go.
As to being triggered by colours as a symbol of racism, I recall reading a piece by a person of african extraction complaining, amongs other things, that the white stick figure on a black background of the "walk" lights on UK pedestrian crossings was a symbol of racism. I wish I could provide a link, but it was a year or so ago and I didn't take a huge amount of notice. It was on "The Atlantic" website if anyone wants to hunt it down.
So yes, it could have been the subject of a complaint, and the person doing the complaining no doubt considered themselves "woke" to systemic racism. Were the organisation being "Woke"? If there was an actual complaint then probably not. If they did it as a result of an internal attempt to be politically correct then yes.

They're the same thing, woke and political correctness. They both have the same history of being spawned by the PC/woke and then being seized/used by regular people at which the term(s) were deemed to be slurs.
Letter carrier, firefighter, fisher...those were all terms that came out of political correctness as did affirmative action and gay marriage.
Yep, everything can be racist if you want it to be. It's like back in the politically correct era when everything was phallic. Fun fact Melbourne Australia even went so far as to swap out the "male" crosswalk figures with stereotypically female presenting ones.

I think we've reached pretty much peak woke when someone has to delete tweets and go into damage control mode just because they were a decent human being.
Viola Davis, who I may disagree with on other accounts, had to delete a tweet after getting a massive backlash saying it supports colonialism and people wondering "How did Viola Davis not think that tweet through first.. Now the damage is done". What horrible thing did she tweet? Well, condoleances when the late Queen of the UK died.
Exactly what colonialism happened on the watch of ol' Liz, nobody really explained.
Fans were apparently relieved when she deleted the tweet, with at least one proclaiming about Viola Davis "now she's black again." 'Cause, you know, being polite when someone dies apparently made her white or something

Because the author starts off thinking this is about teaching his children to ask permission from a little white man. At the end of his quest, he still sort of thinks that.
Why this brilliant author is not flipping over the Red Man (or Commies or whatever) holding his hand up to refuse this permission is a horizon as yet unexplored.
