The Russian Invasion of Ukraine Part 4

I'm going to report these tangents, they're just plane incongruent.

Sounds like something people from the Z Axis would say....

(Get it? They painted a Z on the side of their vehicles and they were referred to as the Axis in an article upthread? I'll show myself out.)

He already was a problem for Putin. Daddy had advocated for regime change because Putin wasn't being aggressive enough in Ukraine. Getting put down for a dirt nap (or in this case, being turned into air pollution) is just what happens to people who call for regime change in Russia. I don't really care about the daughter getting killed; every time a Russian nationalist dies, an angle gets their wings but I really doubt she was the target.

Dugin also strongly disagreed with Putin trying to make nice with China, since Dugin hates The Chinese, and considers them Russia's real enemy. In fact, he has said this main purpose for destroying the West is to free Russia;'s back so it can face the Real Enemy. His ulitmate plan to is divide China into Warring Provinces, leaving Russia free to become the dominate power on Earth...his ulitmate goal.

Exactly.

His daughter's killing seems to benefit Putin not Ukraine.

What a great plan. So who gets the nukes in China when it falls apart?

Quick overview of the Darya Dugina situation. The case is solved. It is solved who ordered it (mad Soros-financed Russians), who executed it (an extremist Ukrainian women with her twelve years old daughter all the way with her while she planned and executed the murder - that should tell you what kind of mindset that is).

Dugin is an obscure theorist of the "Eurasian Idea". One of the three ideologies he claims proceed his "fourth political theory" is fascism. But the other two are communism and liberalism. You can call him a liberal or communist with the same right you could call him a fascist.

He has none of the "Putin's brain" some "commentators" ascribe to him. Putin has an impressively well-working brain of his own.

Dugin's daughter though, and she was the target by the plenty of evidence we have, lived in practice what he preached in theory. She was, what "western" propaganda victims would never know if I wouldn't tell them, a francophile. Fluent in the language, studied "french philosophy" there and was well connected to the political forces in the country known in "western" rags as populist. She was also well connected to similar circles in Germany, forging the Paris-Berlin-Moscow axis her father theorizes around, and which is the worst nightmare of the Anglo hordes. She was far more dangerous than her father to the people who killed here.

It will backfire, of course, just in "soft power" as everyone with any decency sees that this was just a senseless murder of a "soft target" civilian with zero security detail.

As always I am grateful to Childlike Empress for letting me know which version of a current news story is invented Russian propaganda, and can therefore be safely ruled out as anything close to the truth.

Great, I'll donate to a Soros backed charity. They did the world a great service when they offed the bitch.

Great article from Foreign Affairs about Putin's real motivation for the war. Well worth reading in its entirety.

Vladimir Putin is determined to shape the future to look like his version of the past. Russia’s president invaded Ukraine not because he felt threatened by NATO expansion or by Western “provocations.” He ordered his “special military operation” because he believes that it is Russia’s divine right to rule Ukraine, to wipe out the country’s national identity, and to integrate its people into a Greater Russia.

He laid out this mission in a 5,000-word treatise, published in July 2021, entitled, “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians.” In it, Putin insisted that Belarusians, Russians, and Ukrainians are all descendants of the Rus, an ancient people who settled the lands between the Black and Baltic Seas. He asserted that they are bound together by a common territory and language and the Orthodox Christian faith. In his version of history, Ukraine has never been sovereign, except for a few historical interludes when it tried—and failed—to become an independent state. Putin wrote that “Russia was robbed” of core territory when the Bolsheviks created the Soviet Union in 1922 and established a Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. In his telling, since the Soviet collapse, the West has used Ukraine as a platform to threaten Russia, and it has supported the rise of “neo-Nazis” there. Putin’s essay, which every soldier sent to Ukraine is supposed to carry, ends by asserting that Ukraine can only be sovereign in partnership with Russia. “We are one people,” Putin declares.

The hilited somehow reminds me of another famous irredentist.

I thank you for raising your hand for excusing murder of civilians who are NOT in government, who are NOT in the chain of command - who are, yes, civilians.

I shall know henceforth what kind of character I am talking to under the nick "theprestige".

And no, I am not falling for your transparent Whataboutism.

ETA: But please, be my guess and embarrass yourself further: How does the liquidation of a civilian like Darya Dugina improve the national security of Ukraine? (Or of the USA, or Estonia...)

One less nazi is always good, legal or not, it is morally right

Putin ordering the bombing makes more and more sense, now that food shipping is starting up again: he needed a new talking point for those who want to oppose the West for any reason whatsoever.

OT, but

One less nazi is always good, legal or not, it is morally right

there you go too far. Our emotions when looking at people we can plausibly call nazis are bound to induce murderous fantasies, but as long as those fantasies don't lead us to take action they do little harm; and only to ourselves, come to that.

Fascists can only flourish where the laws are down. Murderers too. How long will it be until, with law absent, you can't tell the one from the other?
